What an incredible milestone for Lake Junaluska! Our very first pickleball tournament is officially in the books—and it was a huge success.

We welcomed 84 players, completed 125 matches, and most importantly, raised over $5,300 for the Special Olympics. It was a fantastic weekend filled with great competition, community spirit, and plenty of fun on the courts.

A special thank you goes to Lynne Jackson for organizing and running her very first tournament so seamlessly—your leadership made all the difference. We’re also incredibly grateful to the many volunteers who gave their time and energy to make this event possible.

We’re already looking forward to many more tournaments to come.

The first ever tournament will be happening at the beautiful Lake Junaluska April 25th-26th. Please sign up with a friend to help support this very important charity; The Special Olympics of Haywood County. There will be medals and we will have a lot of fun.

Events available:

2.5, 3.0, 3.5 and 4.0+
Age categories 12-49 and 50+
Men's Doubles, Women's Doubles and Mixed Doubles

Men's and Women's Doubles events will be held on Saturday the 25th and Mixed play will be on Sunday the 26th. While matches on Saturday may start earlier, we are not starting match play on Sunday until the afternoon (1pm).

It’s for a great cause and it will be a great event!

🎉 It's official! The pickleball courts at Lake Junaluska are now open!

We're so excited to see players of all levels enjoying this fantastic new amenity. Thanks to the collaboration between Haywood County and Lake Junaluska, we've created a wonderful space for friends, families and everyone in between to connect through friendly competition and exercise.

Well, they started painting the lines last week and then a big rain shower showed up. As soon as the weather cooperates, they will finish the lines and put up the nets.

Fingers crossed we will be on the courts in January!

We’re so close! They installed the main gate and the two gates separating courts today.

They wanted to paint lines, but rain is coming.

As soon as they’re able to paint it will be a 24 hour dry time.

Looking good….smoothed and evened out the surface more, getting ready to paint!

They’re back at work. Fencing is done and today they appear to be leveling the asphalt and painting the surface!

Great progress on the Lake J pickleball courts this week.

Here’s an update:

“Asphalt is finished. The contractor will be working on fencing and cleanup next week (11-11).

The asphalt needs to cure for 2-3 weeks before painting.

We hope to have good weather by the end of the month to apply the paint and install the nets.”

Update on the new Lake PB courts:

Gravel is down and compacted. Asphalt goes down next.

We are waiting to get a firm date for the asphalt over the next two weeks.

The asphalt will need to cure for 2-3 weeks before paint.

Paint, fencing and nets will finish the project.

We are ahead of schedule and should be completed by the end of October.

Bathroom remodel is with the architect and will be completed over the winter.
