Hey Acadiana! Earl here, just giving an update about TAG Challenge Park progress. As of September 2024, we are in the phase of building some of the “low elements” like the 10ft wall, Spiders Web, Mountain Tops, Trust Fall, Teepee Shuffle, and a few more ground level elements.
Through a partnership with Mr. Alton Trahan, President of the 100 Black Men of Greater Lafayette, we are working with LUS as one of our community supporters to provide our “high elements” poles and cables to build the elements, which include the 45ft climbing tower and dual Zip-lines, Power Pole, Tarzan lines, and several other 30ft+ high climbing experiences.
TAG received a community grant from Home Depot of $13,000 for materials and supplies to build fencing around the park, storage sheds, and well needed tools and supplies for lawn care and building the low elements.
We are providing remote TAG events in Lafayette through the 15th Circuit Juvenile Drug Court and starting up with the LPSS ACE Program at JW Faulk Elementary and Dr. Raphael A. Baranco Elementary Schools this month.
We are making progress! So if anyone is interested in assisting TAG through business sponsorships (company logos posted on our fencing), program support, sweat equity, or ultimately joining our TAG team to get the park ready for opening, you are welcomed. Give us a call or share with you friends and employers!
