Guerreros Judo Guerreros Judo Club is located in La Puente, California with classes held Mondays and Wednesdays at the La Puente Community Center.

Founded in 1975 by Frank Sanchez Sr. has now stemmed into four other dojos including High Desert judo, Empire Judo and Team Ortiz. at. At Guerreros judo we are not only focused on developing top martial artists, we're focused on developing top leaders. By teaching leadership skills such as: respect, perseverance, self-discipline, courtesy, and goal setting we take our Martial Arts Program and our students to new levels of success.

Today we honor Guerreros’ Emma Quepons & all other Judoka of the Year.

Emma is a truly deserving recipient of the 2025 Outstanding Judoka Award. Having trained in judo since the age of five, she exemplifies the skill, discipline, and character that define a true judoka.

Emma consistently demonstrates courage, resilience, and confidence on and off the mat. She is a dedicated athlete in practice and a smart, strategic competitor in tournaments. Her determination was especially evident this year when she returned stronger after breaking her thumb, culminating in a first-place finish at the 2025 Junior Olympics and qualification for her second Pan American Championships.

Beyond competition, Emma is a supportive teammate and a positive role model, particularly to younger athletes. She also shows a strong commitment to personal growth and service through Girl Scouts and community involvement.

Emma’s achievements include a 3.86 GPA, multiple national and international judo honors, leadership awards, a Rotary Teen Leadership Camp scholarship, and a Girl Scout Silver Award, along with success in cross country and wrestling.

Emma truly embodies the spirit of judo—respect, perseverance, and excellence—and we are proud to honor her with this award.

Congratulations to our very own, Mikayla Nguyen, for earning her Regional Referee badge. On top of fighting in her divisions and volunteering at our dojo, she is often seen reffing at local tournaments. We are proud of you and this outstanding accomplishment.
