We’ve seen the recent conversations on social media regarding La Pine Park & Recreation District and the future use and maintenance of local athletic facilities.
We want to be clear that La Pine Sports Academy values our partnership with Park & Rec and appreciates the facilities they provide for youth sports in our community.
Finley Butte Park is an important part of what makes our programs possible, and maintaining fields, restrooms, common areas, and facilities takes time, labor, and resources. LPSA understands that responsibility, and we have no problem doing our part to help care for and maintain the facilities our athletes and families use.
Our goal is not to point fingers or create division. Our goal is to work together to find solutions that keep youth sports accessible and affordable for La Pine families.
LPSA is a volunteer-run nonprofit organization. Coaches, board members, team parents, field crews, event volunteers, and many others give their time so hundreds of local kids have the opportunity to play sports right here at home.
We currently have a volunteer fee because when there are not enough volunteers, the work still has to get done. We would love nothing more than to eliminate that fee. But doing that requires our community to step up with us.
If more families can give a few hours throughout the season helping with field maintenance, cleanup, facilities, events, concessions, or other needs, we can accomplish a tremendous amount together while keeping costs down for everyone.
This should not be LPSA versus Park & Rec.
It should be LPSA, Park & Rec, our families, and our community working together for our kids.
That is the partnership we want to continue building.
Built by Community. Driven by Kids.
