La Grange Leopards Varsity Baseball This page is to keep fans and students up-to-date on the goings-on with the La Grange Leopards Varsity Baseball Team

Began official play as a recognized sport in the Spring of 1959. State Champions in 1973 beating the Brenham Cubs by a score of 3-1. In 1980, as a Class 2A team, the Leopards were Sate Runner-Up to Linden-Kildare by a score 8-7. In 1983, the Leopards were State Runner-Up, losing to Kenedy 3-2. In 1987, the Leopards were State Quarter-finalists. LaGrange is State Champions for the second time in 2

001 with a 4-3 win over Forney (whom they also defeated for the State football title 6 months earlier). The Leopards claim their 3rd Baseball State Championship in 2004 with a win over Forney again, by a score of 10-4! In 2013, the Leopards defeated Pleasant Grove in the State Championship game at Disch-Falk Field by a score of 10-2 for their 4th State Baseball Championship. Most recent Major Leaguers are Ricky Trlicek, who was active in the Major Leagues from 1992 thru 1997. Trlicek was a relief pitcher who pitched for the Blue Jays, Dodgers, Red Sox and Mets. Homer Bailey, starting pitcher with the Cincinnati Reds, Kansas City Royals, Oakland Athletics and Minnesota Twins.
