Paul: "The reason I've been quiet on here lately is I've been really busy trying to finish my new game: Ice Fishing Derby 2. I've got thousands of hours work into this, but it's getting close! I'm hoping for an early to mid December release. When that's done I'll have time to get some more waters published for FFSHD."

Paul and his friend Greg just returned from a photo shoot in British Columbia and Alberta. The mission was to catch some bull trout for net pictures and to shoot some bull trout waters for the app. With the help of guide Dylan from the Kootenay Fly Shop he caught a 25 inch bull trout on the Wigwam River. Paul told Greg he needed pictures of different sizes of bull trout and asked him to catch one about 2 inches bigger. Paul was kidding, but Greg did exactly that and brought a 27 incher to the net. The trip also yielded several other bull trout including a second 27 incher. It's going to take some time to add bull trout to the simulator, but the shoot provided the pictures of the fish and the waters, so it will happen! Paul also shot several additional world-class cutthroat waters that will be coming to the app as well.

The waters in Fly Fishing Simulator HD include spring creeks, big tailwaters and meadow brooks, but some of the most popular are mid-sized freestone creeks like this one. Otter Creek is popular with the brook trout fans among the app's users.

Many fly anglers consider trout the prettiest fish that swim. Would anyone care to make the case for various sunfish species? This green sunfish isn't in Fly Fishing Simulator HD yet, but perhaps it will be included one day.

Here's the St. Regis, one of the many Montana waters in Fly Fishing Simulator HD. This site in particular took Paul back to his roots, looking so much like one of the plunge pools he fished regularly in his youth.

The very first Prince nymph was tied with a black body, though the most popular version is tied with a peacock herl body, One thing we enjoy doing in Fly Fishing Simulator HD's 3D fly tying is experimenting with different color combinations and variations of well known flies. Do you have a version of the Price with something other than a black or peacock herl body?

Many waters in Fly Fishing Simulator HD required some serious backcountry hiking to access. Clear Creek in Colorado was the opposite. There's good access to some gorgeous water along the highway.

Plenty of fly names are more creative than indications of what a fly imitates, the the Butterfly steelhead fly is a prime example. You probably won't see anything that looks like this fluttering over the flower garden, but tie one up in Fly Fishing Simulator HD and try it on one of the steelhead rivers in the app.

Occasionally when shooting a river for Fly Fishing Simulator HD the water is so clear that too many fish are visible moving in the water for the animation to flow correctly in the app. Some sites on the S**o were like that. This site had fish tucked in the deeper water though, not quite visible in the video. Paul caught a nice brown from this site before shooting it.

Sculpins make great meals for trout, though they're not present in every trout stream. In some places they're present but in low numbers due to a high trout population. The Muddler Minnow is a classic fly people use to imitate a sculpin, but there are many modern patterns that look more like the real thing. Some sites in Fly Fishing Simulator HD have sculpins, and if you find one during your hatch check, there's a good chance a sculpin fly is your best bet for the largest fish there.
