September was hotter than August until today, and just in time. It's officially autumn and the weather turned the page. Expect cool nights and pleasant days with even cooler weather to come over the next month.

Stop putting those fishing trips off and get out while you can!

Would you rather be a super accurate fly caster or be able to launch your line a mile?

There's no downside to being able to cast far. Just be sure you can still hit a target. It's the same whether it's a short cast to a brook trout on a small stream or a long cast to a cruising tarpon on an oceanside flat. Your fly has to be on target to get the hook up.

In the world of fly fishing for trout there are very few casts over 35' so work on hitting your targets at that range or less.

As you gain the ability to cast fly further than that, remember it's always important to place a fly where needs to be, not just way out there without any aim.
