I think there are many things in life that are terrifying and amazing- running 100 miles is one of those for me and many others! Yeti 100 is taking place this weekend, and I'm wishing a great race for all those running, and especially Jonathan as he takes on his first 100! Enjoy the journey!

"Wild Oak is Wild Oak. If you have any questions, don't come." If you want to follow and support Dave (limited cell coverage, so probably spotty updates) as he takes on the unmarked, unsupported, 25+ mile loops with ~7k of gain per loop on The Wild Oak Trail, you can do so at TWOT100 on Twitter. He'll be starting tomorrow morning.
Dave is never one to back down from a challenge- as evidenced by this being his second year running this one!

Also, congratulations to Mark Cristy for his taking the state age group 30k record for 73 year olds last week at Whitestone! He ran it as a training run, and was still able to take well over an hour off the previous record. I love that he continues to push his limits!

After 5 weeks of having external pins in my hand from Hellgate and being unable to do anything that would make me "sweat" (Dr's orders!πŸ˜†) due to risk of infection, I was unsure how this would go on only two weeks of running. It wasn't easy, but I am learning consistent training means there is a baseline fitness that sticks around. (And, I know it doesn't hurt that my last race was Hellgate- that's a stout fitness boost! πŸ˜„)

Congratulations are overdue for on her accomplishment of 50 miles in 12 hrs at this years Black Toe Run. Alondra is the first female to achieve this milestone!! πŸ“·

Anyone that runs Ultras has heard a version of the saying, "Ultra's are 10% physical and 90% mental" and there is a lot of truth to that. In getting to work with Hunt as an athlete, I get to see his mental strength, both in his athletic endeavors as well as life in general. He is an encouragement to all around him. Tomorrow he takes on the Tunnel Hill 50 Miler, and I know he'll run a strong race- physically and mentally!

Also, thinking of all those that will be enjoying the fall weather at Norris Dam 50k tomorrow! Happy running!

Post-Race congratulations to a couple of people that put in the hard work necessary for success.

Chloe set a new Course Record (which she already held, so she also set a new PR this year!) at Walking Tall 50k. She's gone through a move and is adjusting to her new job, so we have cut back on the miles, but it obviously didn't hurt her performance!

Also, Firewater 100k had 4(!) men break the previous course record- one of them being Doug, running a sub-12 hour 100k!
Stephanie, as usual, had an impressive day, taking first place Master's Female! Great job to both of you!

Jennifer was fast enough to not only snag 2nd place F, but also beat the rain as well in the Firewater 50k! πŸ˜„

Sounded like everyone had a great time out there, and lots of runners got to enjoy the success gained by their hard work!

No Business 100 is here! I know there are many runners filled with nerves and excitement, anxious to get started on their journey. We all have different reasons for choosing to run 100 miles, but to everyone, I hope you have an amazing time out on the trails. It's a beautiful place you get to run, and the blessing of health and ability to attempt such a challenge should never be taken for granted.

Johanna is coming back this year to finish her adventure that injury paused last year. As she told me not too long ago, "Dreams don't have an expiration date." Can't wait to see her achieve her goal that's been two years in the making.

To all the runners toeing that line tomorrow- enjoy your run! πŸ’•

Keep close to Nature’s heart... and break clear away, once in awhile, and climb a mountain or spend a week in the woods. Wash your spirit clean. -Muir

Course marking is complete. Bring on race weekend!!
