🏆 TEAM TENNESSEE 29 SMITH ARE CHAMPIONS IN JOHNSON CITY! 🏆
What a day of softball.
The morning started with a thriller against the Lady Regulators. Team Tennessee jumped out to an early lead, watched it disappear, and then found themselves tied late. With the game on the line, Aubrey McAmis stepped to the plate and delivered the walk-off hit to send the girls pouring out of the dugout for a 5-4 victory.
Game one belonged to the fighters.
Game two was a different story.
Against a talented Intensity Fastpitch squad, four early errors put Team Tennessee in a hole they couldn’t climb out of. Sometimes softball has a way of humbling you. The girls never quit competing, but the scoreboard reminded everyone how important the little things can be.
The real test wasn’t the loss.
The real test was what came next.
Would they hang their heads, or would they respond?
In game three against Bears Oakes, Team Tennessee answered quickly. Big hits from Alexandria Clare, Alexzandra Smith, Isabella Dixon, Aubrey McAmis, and Aubree Goff helped build an 8-2 lead. Then came the pressure. Bears Oakes kept fighting and suddenly the game tightened to 8-7.
The momentum had shifted.
The crowd got louder.
The tension grew.
And our girls stood their ground.
No panic. No excuses. Just outs when they needed outs most.
That win punched their ticket to the championship.
And what a championship game it was.
A rematch with the Lady Regulators.
Team Tennessee fell behind early.
Then took the lead.
Then lost the lead.
Then tied it again.
Every inning felt bigger than the last.
Every pitch mattered.
With the game hanging in the balance, the defense was flawless. Not a single error. Maddie Harris battled in the circle. Aubree Goff delivered a huge two-RBI hit. Alexandria Clare added a clutch RBI. The girls turned a double play and made every routine play look routine when the pressure was at its highest.
In the bottom of the 5th, with the championship on the line, Aubree Goff laid down a perfect walk-off BUNT that scored Allie Moynihan and sent Team Tennessee into celebration mode with a thrilling 4-3 victory.
Championship teams aren’t perfect.
They’re resilient.
They’re the teams that respond after a tough loss.
They’re the teams that make the next play.
They’re the teams that trust each other when the game gets tight.
Today, these girls showed exactly what that looks like.
Champions.
3-1 on the day.
Countless memories made.
And judging by the smiles, celebrations, and loud orange crowd behind them, I’d say this story is just getting started.
