2025 Spartathlon. Very deceptive weather. It seemed the easiest most favorable weather in recent years, especially during the first 12 hours. However with lower temperatures many athletes did not pay sufficient attention to hydration which lead to cramping, stomach issues and overheating.
Then the consistent cold rain started overnight and lasted well into the second day forcing the athletes to repeatedly go between overheating to freezing.

12 athletes started the race, 6 finished. Overall performance consistent with the international average finishing rate.

Congratulations to the 2025 U.S. Spartathlon Team finishers.
