This is my Fade Flex; my little goblin satchel of responsible nonsense.

It lives where pocket carry ends and “I might actually need a thing” begins: med, light, tools, admin, snacks, sharpies, Mini Gremlin supplies, and a few quiet layers of preparedness.

I carry it because life is weird, pockets are fake, and being useful is cooler than being surprised.

Small bag. Big “just in case” energy.

This isn’t just a kit photo.

It’s a timeline.

Every piece in this picture taught me something. Some of it taught me through success. A lot of it taught me through wasted money, bad assumptions, extra weight, and having to learn the hard way.

I used to think the goal was to jump straight to the “endgame” setup. Biggest loadout. Most capability. Most gear. Most cool.

Now I know better.

A plate carrier taught me weight.
A chest rig taught me utility.
A belt taught me access.
A ruck taught me sustainment.
Medical taught me responsibility.
Boots taught me miles.
And all of it taught me that there really is no universal “right way” to build a kit — there is only the way that fits your role, your needs, your terrain, and the way you actually move.

That’s the real lesson.

Some setups need to stay light.
Some need to carry more.
Some are built for speed.
Some are built for duration.
Some pieces are pure function.
Some pieces carry a little personality.
And honestly, I think the best kits eventually become both.

Function first.
Then character.

That’s where I landed.

Every pouch, patch, strap, mag, and buckle here means something to me, because none of it came from theory alone. It came from use. From change. From refining. From figuring out what mattered, what didn’t, and what kind of loadout actually supports the way I walk.

This isn’t “the answer.”
It’s just my answer.

And maybe that’s the point:
build your kit your way — but make sure your way can actually work.

What piece of your kit taught you the most?

Whether the darkest night or the brightest day…
Thermal will always guide your way.
…..
I’ve been running the NVECTECH USA Defender 319 for a few months now…
And I’ll say this — thermal differentiation on this unit is on another level.
AI-assisted processing, onboard ranging, and targeting all integrated directly into the chassis — not as add-ons, but as part of the system itself.
There’s a lot more under the hood here than most people realize.
…..
The chosen host — Shadow.
Built around a Geissele Automatics Super Duty Mod 1 upper, paired with an Otter Creek Labs, LLC Polo and MDT Sporting Goods ltd. GRND, riding on a Griffin Armament MK2 lower.
Control interface is a mix of G$ and Forward Controls Design, with Matthew Gore / B5 Systems furniture and a Sylvan Arms SD5 folder rounding it out.
…..
A platform built to perform in any condition —
daylight, darkness, and everything in between.
This isn’t just visibility.
This is information dominance.

With spring in the air, how many of y’all are ready for those longer, prettier days on the range? The kind where the air feels right, the light hangs around a little longer, and you can take your time instead of racing the sun. This time of year always hits different; more range days, more reps, more time behind the gun, and more excuses to get outside and run the setups we’ve been piecing together all winter. Warmer weather, greener woods, and a little more daylight to burn always feels like the season where everything starts moving again.

Yesterday was proof that presence matters. I drove 4 hours to the Capitol on less than 24 hours’ notice to lobby against Tennessee HB 1971, because in its current form, I believe it opens the door to language and enforcement that could infringe on the rights of lawful gun owners and weaken Second Amendment protections through vague and unfinished verbiage. I showed up, stood my ground, and refused to leave unheard. It’s not always about shooting, training, and gear; sometimes the moment calls for something more. Sometimes it calls for your voice. They may not have expected to see me there, and they definitely didn’t expect me to matter, but sometimes all it takes is showing up, speaking clearly, and standing firm. Trial by fire 🔥, and I came back tempered, not burned.

When the State’s intent is to protect itself from the people, that is when the people need the most protection from the State.

P.S. Driving Winfield Dunn Parkway every day, then seeing his portrait as one of the first things in the Capitol, felt like one of those moments that was meant to happen.

Thank you , let’s make some change… and hold true what already was 🇺🇸!!
