Brief JCP show review of the matches I saw...
Zuka King & AJ Cazana Vs. Stan Lee & RT3 - Match itself was nothing special, but did what it needed to do storyline wise. Cazana really shines as an arrogant heel and RT3 has a hard to define charisma about him. Crowd was pretty hot, especially for the swerve at the end... 2.5 stars out of 5
Women's Triple Threat - Alice Crowley Vs. Ryleigh Rocket Vs. ??? - This match did not get off to a good start as they started with a lot of sloppy roll-ups and one woman seemed to struggle with running the ropes... match kinda went downhill from there and really killed what had been a hot crowd to that point. Just a case of bad in-ring chemistry between the three... 0.5 stars out of 5
Stew Crew Vs. Heatseekers - LOVED the ECW Scott Hall nod by The Heatseekers... Stew Crew got the pop of the night as the hometown boys. Heatseekers definitely led The Stew Crew to a great match with phenomenal storytelling with the hottest crowd I have EVER seen for a match anywhere besides maybe NGW. Stew Crew, though, held their own and proved themselves to be just as good as The Heatseekers. If I'm a promoter looking for a tag team that has a lot of upside, I'd get the Stew Crew while I could. Match itself was a 3.5 star match out of 5... BUT the white-hot crowd pushed it up to a 4 star match.
Coach S***k Vs. Danny Vegas - This was not designed to be a 5-star match, but it didn't need to be... Vegas is a great jackass heel and the Coalfield crowd HATED his guts. I worried there'd be a crowd dropoff after a great semimain, but the crowd stayed hot and the fans were solidly behind S***k... for a guy with little to no wrestling experience, Coach S***k didn't do too badly in a steel cage. The match was definitely entertaining and the crowd pushed what would have been a 3.25 star match to a decent 3.5 star one.
Really wish I'd caught the whole show as it made me seriously miss reviewing shows. I'm not quite mentally ready to get back to the reviewing grind, but this show definitely helped me show myself I could still do it. Hopefully there will be a few more reviews in April and May for me to fine-tune things before I get back on the reviewing grind again.
