Kingsville Angels- Miracle League

Hello I am COACH De La Rosa with the Champions Baseball League, Team ANGELS is a Baseball team of the Kingsville PONY Champions League – The kids that I coach have different types of disabilities. While many other leagues have had some type of Champions League for years, PONY has officially organized this opportunity for children with special needs. The new division was hosted by Major League Baseball and debuted at their 2009 All Star game Funfest activities in St. Louis, Missouri. Abraham Key, President and CEO at that present time was present to kick off these activities. This new division was approved by the International Board at its Executive Committee meeting that March and has officially been a part of the Pony League since the 2010 season. It was developed to help the children with special needs as they pursue their dreams of team sports in one of America's favorite pastimes - baseball. PONY has always participated in promoting the development of this type of league through its Friendship games at tournaments around the world---now the Champions become the official division. Friendship games is the reasoning for my letter to your company/businesses/organizations – As the Head coach of these amazing group of kids with various kinds of disabilities, it is my job to schedule baseball games for these kids. We do not play against other baseball teams from the local area we play local companies or organization as part of building a greater community effort to show these wonderful kids the love for baseball. I am challenging you are local companies, businesses and or organizations to round- up 9 of your best employee’s with-in your office (for example: Supervisors, secretaries, managers, and corporate leaders) and 2 coaches to come on out and schedule a game with us TEAM ANGELS. We are not seeking a monetary donation; we are challenging you to a game of America’s pastime and American History – “ Baseball.” Enclosed are the dates of the eight game schedule we are looking to fill with-in the next two weeks. Should we receive a great response to our request we will schedule a 10 or 12 game schedule. Our season will run from March 25, 2012 to the end of May. Team Angels will also be hosting “ An evening with the Angels) most likely this evening event will be a Saturday Night in the mouth of May with a Double Header and a Night of activates for the kids and an invitation to all the local businesses, companies, and organizations that participate in our 2012 Champions Baseball Season. Date(s): Saturday April 7, 2012 - 6:30pm Monday April 9, 2012 - 6:30pm Saturday April 21, 2012 – 6:30pm Monday April 23, 2012 – 6:30pm Saturday May 5, 2012 – 6:30pm Monday May 7, 2012 – 6:30pm Saturday May 19, 2012 – 6:30pm Monday May 21, 2012 – 6:30pm Due to the increasing temperatures in our local weather we the Coaching Staff and parents have agreed that evening games are best suitable for our kids to play our game(s) in. Should our game be rained out we will reschedule the game with an agreeable date. I would like to share with you a quick story before I end my request: Last year, was the first year the Champions League played in Kingsville, Texas – At the time I was the Assistant Coach of Team Angels, being a member of the coaching staff I got to build a close relationship with all of my baseball players. This past month we laid to rest one of our most beautiful lil’ Angels on our Team - Madelyn K. Perez. She was an 8 year little girl who suffered with cyrabel palsy and was diagnosed with ITP a very rare blood disorder. Maddie as we all called her with her BIG o’ smile loved baseball so much – that last year was such an amazing year for her and all her teammates cause it was the first time the Champion League existed in Kingsville. This year the entire PONY league season has been dedicated to Maddie. Team Angels will not be in there Red Uniforms this year; we will be in customized purple baseball jerseys in Honor of Maddie. Not only was it Maddie favorite color it is the color for the ITP Blood Disorder. I share with you this story to express to you as a COACH what it meant to me to be able to coach a child who loved baseball and her wish was granted to her last year to play and entire season with other kids who share other and different disabilities.
