Lions Spring Season Announcement
It is with great reluctance that the NY Kingston Lions announce we will not be able to field a team for the upcoming spring season. This difficult decision was made after careful consideration of several factors impacting our roster, as well as other internal matters that will remain within the organization. We want to assure our supporters that this decision is not due to finances or staffing concerns.
The primary contributing factors for our withdrawal were attendance and roster size. After thorough team meetings and online discussions, our ownership concluded that fielding a team with the minimum roster could result in forfeits and subpar competition. We believe it would be unfair to put our players in such a position and would not reflect the quality standard we strive for.
Our owner has decided to take this step now to allow our players and staff the opportunity to join other teams before the season begins. This ensures everyone has a fair chance to be part of a team and participate in the league.
We sincerely apologize to the Big East Football League, who have worked diligently to organize an outstanding league and season. We also extend our gratitude to our fans and supporters for their unwavering encouragement. To our community, please know this is not the end—only a pause for the spring season. We are hopeful that we will be able to recruit and return for either the summer or fall seasons in 2026.
The Kingston Lions remain committed to providing our community with a team they can be proud of for many years to come. We will not compromise the quality of our football just to participate. Thank you all, and we look forward to seeing you in another season in 2026.
