The story of Barber Racing,
September 3, 2023 was the first race I did. We had a lil camper and pulled the machines on a trailer. I raced a clapped out yfz450r. Had no idea how intense this sport was or what it required. All I knew was I wanted to do it after watching a race in April of 2023.
Jason Sterling warned us saying this sport is addictive and more expensive than drugs. I laughed at that thinking it was a funny joke. Little did I know he was more than correct.
Since April 2023 I have not missed a single race. I’ve attended every weekend MXC Racing and AXC Racing has had. I’ve always planned to stay on 4 wheels since I grew up riding fourwheelers. Tyler McCoy begged me to get a pit bike and I told him over and over that I will never ride on 2 wheels. A few months after that bold statement I bought a crappy Chinese pitbike for $400 and rode it into the ground having the time of my life.
A year later I went and bought a brand new 2025 crf125 and absolutely loved every second of racing it.
Half way through the 2025 season I ended up with a 400ex and raced that bad boy into the ground.
Skip forward to November of 2025 I went and watched Spencer, Mason, John, Jaden, and Jeremy( Kym Ryals) race the 24 hour gut buster in Texas. 3 days later I went and bought a 2026 yz250fx because I decided racing dirtbikes looked really cool. 2 months after that I went and bought a brand new toy hauler. Then a month after that I ended up with a 22 trx90.
So went from a clapped out yfz450r with a lil camper that we crammed people into to having our own toy hauler, having 2 dirtbikes (even though I said I’d never race on 2 wheels) and a pit quad. Went from racing once a weekend to 3 times a weekend…
I can say with confidence that I am far more skilled on a quad than a dirtbike, but I love the amount of competition on the bikes and I love that I’m going from the very bottom and slowly making my way up.
Every race I get faster and hit the ground harder, but I absolutely love it. I love the racing, I love the atmosphere, I love the people, I love it all. Britney Barber wasn’t into it at first but she’s gotten real deep into it even though it financially drains us😂
Today I hit 200 followers on this page. That’s not a lot to most people but it is to me. Yes at least 2/3 of the people following are people that I know but there’s still several people I don’t know and I appreciate each and every person who’s clicked follow. Whether a random post came across your feed or a funny video of me smacking the ground you guys took the time to push that follow button and it’s greatly appreciated. I love sharing my racing info. 99% of the time I’m talking about racing no matter who it’s with or where I’m at. I’ve definitely found where I belong in this world and I’m all in. Also if you read this entire post you’re insane because it’s a lot of rambling😂
Here’s to many many many more years of racing🍻. Hopefully I can be like some of these old guys that absolutely tear the track up in 30 years when I become an old guy (after a weekend of racing 3 races I feel like one)
