Special : "different from what is usual"
Different : "distinct"
This team missed our friend and teammate Ryleigh on Saturday but sent our friend and teammate Kendal, who moved to a different part of the state, out with a great day.
We started the fall and our journey right at a couple months ago with the goal of getting as much time as possible in right away real quickly this fall, learning and adjusting to each other, and so on. For the only time all fall, yesterday we found ourselves below the top line in pool seeding, but boy these girls still worked to earn themselves some bling and build on what has been a couple months of solid growth. This side of the bracket was electric, with our first game going to a 7-inning double international, the game behind us going international; and then in the final on a cold October night we found ourselves down 4-1 roundabout the third or fourth inning. A switch flipped and we hit through the lineup in our next at-bat, starting an 8-run inning by loading the bases and clearing them in one shot, and then piecing together 5 more runs after that and making the necessary final plays on defense to finish it off. Nothing was easy and it was a showing of grit, determination and perseverance by these young ladies to be proud of. The level of consistent ex*****on demonstrated so many parts of the growth we've seen out of these girls in 6 tournaments over the last couple months.
This group embodies the definition of special - players, parents, support and anything else one can think of. These girls are loving the game, buying into the process, they want to pray with and for each other, pray for others, and they encourage each other and play for each other. What's continuing to brew here is special, and that's exciting.
