It's sad that it has to end but on the other hand, I could not have imagined being a part of such an amazing ride!
The AHI Reapers have decided to suspend operations as a Fastpitch Softball program with the hopes of coming back in the next 4-6 years. Why that time frame? By then, my oldest son will be ready to play and bring the team back!
After much thought, now is the time to end an amazing ride! AHI Reapers will end the run as 3 time NAFA AA World Champions and 1 top 10 ISC World Tournament finish to their name. When I was catching my dad as an 8 year old in the back yard, I never would have thought that I would have sponsored a team that would reach such heights.
Thank you to all who have been a part of this amazing journey! Success in this sport isn't a 1 person thing. There are a few people that deserve recognition:
Eric Riesterer has been my right hand man for most of the way. From doing all of the tech stuff to team social media director to becoming one of my best friends, this team wouldn't be what it was without you being apart of it
Jeff Miller has been in charge of all of our fundraising stuff! I give him an idea, he puts it out for people to see and gets the ball rolling. Another one of the originals from our 21 Gun Saloon Days!
To Darren Derricks, Dean Kane and the Circle Tap crew. You have always been there acting as a big brother to us making sure we didn't do something stupid and made sure we were doing it the right way all of the time! You were always a great example of what a softball team should be.
To all of the players that wore the Reapers uniform...thank you! Thank you for giving up your summers to play ball. Thank you for becoming a part of my life that I will never forget. We may grow apart because that's what life does but you will never be forgotten. There are stories that will live in infamy and be shared for years to come!
Last but not least, to my wife Haley and my boys, Broc and Axel. You didn't "allow" me to have the Reapers fastpitch team, you were apart of it. Whether it was Haley being mad about guys we would or wouldn't bring back or her enjoying the cookouts, you were a big part of our success. Broc and Axel, I hope that this team gave you a part of a childhood that not many kids get the opportunity to have! I look forward to putting these uniforms on the two of you when the time comes.
We will forever be grateful for what the fastpitch softball community gave us and has meant to us! This is a sad day for us. The memories help soften that blow.
To all of those continuing in this amazing game, keep it doing so my kids can play it someday too!
Thank you all again for a great run! We couldn't have done it without all of you!
