Yesterday, our middle school swimmers took part in an away meet hosted by Belton at the Roy and Jean Potts Belton Swim Center. This was made possible by a wonderful collaborative effort from the swim coaches of both districts. Our athletes had the opportunity to swim in a new pool and face the additional challenge of competing against athletes from outside of KISD, something they typically wouldn’t experience until joining our high school programs. Our coaches and athletes are looking forward to finishing the middle school season strong with the District meet on April 28th. We hope to see you there!

With our initial tryouts done for this week, our coaches are looking forward to this year's middle school season. With a total of 51 KISD students who participated in tryouts, there is a lot to be excited about!

Remember, if you missed tryouts, our coaches will still allow athletes to try out when they return from break during scheduled practice times. Make sure to do the online check-in form if you haven't already, so that they can verify eligibility before you arrive to practice.

We had a great turn out at yesterday's try outs. We are looking forward to seeing everyone else very soon!

Parents, if you have not already done so, please make sure that you complete the online form using the link below. It helps our coaches streamline the process at the pool and allows them to verify eligibility in advance.

Any athlete that misses tryouts this week will still be subject to completing a tryout at the athletes first practice in order to determine skill level.

Our swimmers not only give their all in the water but also in their academics! What a great recognition for these Harker Heights seniors.

Congratulations to a pair of Harker Heights swimmers (Hydro Knights), Gloria Yi and Cailey Melvin, who on Tuesday were named as Academic All-State recipients by the Texas High School Coaches Association!!!

To qualify for nomination to the Academic All-State Team, a student must have a coach who is a THSCA member, maintain good standing with their team, display strong moral character, and hold a current GPA of 92 or higher, calculated from grades earned from ninth through eleventh grade, and coursework completed in 12th-grade.

Amazing job to all of our amazing swimmers in KISD!

Killeen ISD’s swim teams (Kisd Swim-Dive) wrapped up their seasons Friday and Saturday at regional meets.

Chaparral and Ellison were in the pool at Texas A&M’s Rec Center Natatorium for the Class 5A Region VI meet while Harker Heights, Killeen and Shoemaker dived in at the Rockwall ISD Aquatic Center in the Class 6A Region III competition.

Shoemaker freshman Blayne Cutbirth (pictured below from the District 12-6A meet) highlighted the weekend with a pair ‘A’ final swims that netter her fourth place in the girls 100-yard breaststroke and sixth place in the 100 butterfly. The top-two finishers in each event and the next eight-fastest times across the state qualified for the UIL State Swimming Championships, and Cutbirth narrowly missed out on an at-large bid.

Congratulations to all of the swimmers and coaches, who've been hard at work since the summer.

Our coaches are excited to welcome our 7th and 8th grade students to middle school swim! Join us on either March 2nd or 3rd for our parent meeting.

The student must be a current KISD student in 7th or 8th grade. This is not a learn-to-swim program. If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to any of our coaches.
