We are heartbroken.
The cycling community was devastated by the news of the crash involving the Milligan Cycling team in Tennessee. Two young cyclists lost their lives, and several others were seriously injured.
This one hits especially close to home for us because two of the injured athletes are part of the Recyclist crew and our cycling family. We are incredibly grateful they are here, and our hearts are with them, their family, teammates, and everyone who is navigating the unimaginable aftermath of this tragedy.
There really aren't words for something like this. These are young people who were out doing something they love.
And please, do not use this post to debate cyclists, cycling, or who “should” be on the road. Two young people lost their lives, families are grieving, and our own community is hurting. There is no place for victim-blaming or negative comments here.
Tonight, we're holding the Milligan Cycling team, the families of those lost, the injured athletes, and our own Recyclist family very close.
Ride safe. Drive safe. Look out for each other
We are profoundly shocked and saddened to share that members of our cycling team were in an accident involving a vehicle this morning while cycling in Hampton, TN. Sophomores Haylan Engdahl and Brayden Rogers were killed in this accident. Multiple other Milligan cyclists were also seriously injured and are currently receiving treatment at the Johnson City Medical Center. There are no words to adequately describe this level of loss. Our prayers are with all those impacted by this tragedy. Please keep the Milligan community in your prayers.
