All ten of our VHS anglers made it into Championship weekend. Oh, and have we mentioned we are all sophomores and freshmen?! This was a great experience for all of us and there's no doubt we will be back in future Championships. Thank you to all who made this Championship weekend possible with special thanks to the VHS community who donated the rod and reel combos. Because of their generosity, HCSBAT made more than 30 kids smile with a gifted rod/reel combo. Warhawks are the best!

The Warhawks competed HARD this weekend at the GHSA State Championship on Lake Sinclair and represented Veterans High with pride!

After battling against the best teams in the state, our anglers came up just a few places short of qualifying for Nationals, but what an incredible effort it was from this group.

Congratulations to Ryder Mize and Abry Sloan for a strong showing against one of the toughest fields in the country.

Huge congratulations as well to Chris Fussell and Kade Dixon for an outstanding TOP 15 finish at the GHSA State Championship!

Considering that more than 400 teams competed throughout the season and only 113 boats qualified for State, finishing in the Top 15 is an incredible accomplishment and a testament to the work these anglers have put in all year long.

What makes this group especially impressive is the way they stayed committed to one another and to their Boat Captains throughout the season. Through every early morning, long drive, tough practice, and tournament day, these anglers continued to support each other and treat every event as an opportunity to learn, grow, and improve. That commitment to development and teamwork has helped shape a culture our program can truly be proud of.

Proud of these Warhawks for the way they competed, represented our school, and supported one another all season long. The future remains bright for VHS Fishing!

Congratulations to our VHS Anglers on an outstanding season and for qualifying for championship competition!

We are proud to recognize Ryder Mize, Abry Sloan, Chris Fussell, and Kade Dixon for qualifying to compete in the GHSA State Championship (5/9) and HCSBAT Championship (5/16), while also earning the opportunity to represent VHS in the Program Championship (5/15)!

We also congratulate Levi Ramage, Aiden Johannes, Rylan Brownlee, Jace Besselman, Jayden Grimes, and Reece Griffin for qualifying to compete in the HCSBAT Championship!

Your hard work, dedication, and success on the water continue to make VHS proud.

Congratulations to Ryder Mize for being named VHS Angler of the Year after the completion of all GHSA and HCSBAT regular season events!

Ryder’s dedication, consistency, and competitive success throughout the season have set the standard for Warhawk fishing excellence. We are proud to celebrate this outstanding achievement and look forward to seeing what’s next on the water for Ryder and the team.

Congrats to Reece Griffin on catching his 6.88lb bass and to he and Jayden Grimes for their first place finish in a very competitive field of anglers! Our Warhawks hosted this event, which resulted in 336lbs of trash removed from Lake Sinclair. Go Warhawks!!

Not gonna lie… these prize packages are looking real nice.

We’re getting everything ready for Reeling in the Rubbish on Lake Sinclair, and these anglers are about to be spoiled. Between the gear, gift cards, and giveaways… yeah, it’s safe to say you might wish you were fishing this one.

And the best part? Every one of these prizes is tied to something bigger—students putting in the work to clean up our shoreline and take care of the lake we all love.
