Sometimes God answers prayers in ways you don’t expect.

I’m proud to announce that I have accepted a position as News Producer with KOTA Territory in Rapid City, South Dakota.

The same week I earn my Bachelor’s Degree in Sportscasting, I’ll be packing my bags and beginning my professional career in television news.

There were moments when this goal felt far away. There were setbacks, sacrifices, closed doors, and plenty of uncertainty.

But God remained faithful.

Thank you to everyone who believed in me, prayed for me, encouraged me, and supported this dream.

South Dakota, I’ll see you soon.

Seven years ago, I made a promise to myself that I would finish what I started.

On July 1, 2026, I will officially earn my Bachelor’s Degree in Sportscasting from Full Sail University’s Dan Patrick School of Sportscasting.

I always imagined celebrating that accomplishment by walking across the graduation stage. Instead, God had a different plan.

The same week I graduate, I’ll be relocating to a new state to begin my first full-time position in broadcast journalism as a News Producer. Because of that opportunity, I’ll be missing commencement.

I’d be lying if I said that part doesn’t hurt. I wanted that moment. I wanted to hear my name called. I wanted to walk across that stage after everything it took to get here.

But sometimes the blessing is bigger than the celebration.

The degree was never just about a ceremony. It was about keeping a promise, breaking cycles, overcoming obstacles, and creating opportunities that once felt out of reach.

So while I may not be walking across a stage on graduation day, I’ll be walking into the next chapter of my life and career.

Thank you, God, for every closed door, every lesson, every setback, and every opportunity that brought me here.

The stage would have been a celebration.

The career is the dream.

Some people mistake gratitude for bragging, but when you’ve survived storms that were supposed to break you, it’s hard not to give God the glory.

I come from a family that didn’t always have much, but we learned how to make a little look like a lot. From a young age, I was taught never to settle for less than what God has for me, to work hard, keep my faith, and go be somebody.

So if I celebrate milestones, opportunities, growth, or blessings, understand it’s not because I think I’m better than anyone. It’s because I know where I started, what I’ve survived, and Who carried me through it all.

Cycle breakers often look different because they’re called to do different things. I’m just grateful God trusted me with the assignment. 🙏🏽

The artist.
The coach.
The journalist.
The producer.
The storyteller.

Different roles. Same person.

Had some fun reimagining myself through the lens of some of the sitcoms that inspired an entire generation. 📺✨

What’s your favorite version?

Had the opportunity to connect with several Athletic Directors from different states while networking and preparing for my upcoming Master’s program in Sports Management. One thing that really stood out to me was how some school districts structure their athletic programs. In certain states, it’s not uncommon to see a varsity team, JV team, sophomore team, and even multiple freshman teams within the same sport.

As someone who has coached at multiple levels, I found that fascinating. That’s a lot of student-athletes being developed, a lot of opportunities being created, and a lot of coaches being given the chance to make an impact.

Michigan has its own way of doing things, and I wasn’t there to criticize our model because every state faces different challenges and realities. But I do think there is something to be said for creating more roster spots and developmental opportunities for young athletes.

More teams can mean more students staying involved, more chances for late bloomers to grow, fewer cuts, and more opportunities for quality coaches to mentor the next generation. It also helps build a stronger foundation for varsity programs in the long run.

Regardless of the model, the goal remains the same: provide as many young people as possible with opportunities to learn, compete, and grow through sports.

These conversations reminded me that there is always something new to learn when you step outside your own environment and listen to how others are doing things.

As 8th-grade transition week comes to a close, I’m reminded just how quickly time flies.

Some of the athletes I first coached are now moving into middle school. Others are heading to high school, and some have already graduated.

If I remain local, I hope to one day cover many of my former athletes on the local news as varsity players. That would be a full-circle moment.

The best is yet to come. 🫡

“Write the vision and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it.” — Habakkuk 2:2

Lately, I haven’t been able to shake a vision that God placed on my heart. It’s not something I’m ready to fully share yet, and honestly, it’s still in the preparation stage. What I do know is that it would require resources, experience, patience, and a level of stability that I’m still working toward.

For now, I’m writing the vision down, praying over it, and continuing to do the work in front of me. I’m focused on finishing my degree, growing as a journalist, and becoming the man God is calling me to be.

If it’s His will, one day I’ll be in a position to bring this vision to life. And when that time comes, I want to bring it home first. I want to pour back into the community that helped shape me and create opportunities for others that I may not have had growing up.

Until then, I’ll keep trusting God’s timing. Some dreams are revealed in a moment, but built over years.

I miss writing.

The other day I was looking back through my analytics and realized something that made me pause for a second.

I’ve accumulated millions of music streams as an artist/producer and millions of article views as a sports journalist.

It’s been an unconventional journey, but whether it’s through music, sports writing, broadcasting, or coaching, storytelling has always been at the center of everything I’ve done.

As I continue pursuing opportunities in television and sports media, I’m grateful for every person who has listened, read, watched, and supported the journey. The work continues. 👀
