For Paige 🩵
Before there were bikini dreams, there were the princess dresses I wanted to wear with my sisters that existed only in my head. My younger self envisioned a lineup of hotties, 12 dancing princesses style, with flowy gowns that fit all of our different bodies + made us feel good. Paige, you gave me the greatest gift and most tremendous challenge by asking me not only to be next to you on your special day, but with the task of getting to design these dresses for you and your chosen few. Meet the Paige Dress.
Paige, my IG friend who became my bff, you came into my life when my bikinis were just beginning, and your light, love and magnetic energy made it so easy to talk to you and get to know you. Not to mention your stunning beauty and warmth that radiates though everything you do. Back in January, you came into my house with a little blue box and asked me the question that you hope every girl gets asked at least once, “will you be my bridesmaid?” It was an immediate yes, and then she hit me with a “oh and can you design the dresses too?” Immediately s**t myself.
DRESSES? Girl I make bikinis. These two garments couldn’t be any different + after convincing Paige not to go with the skimpy Kristi tank dresses I already made, together we made something new. We sent eachother vids + tried on so many bikinis mixed with skirts and aimed to find the perfect silhouette that would fit all the bridesmaids who were one of every different size.
Last month when we got to finally try on the real ones, in a “sisterhood of the traveling dress” kind of way, all of the Paige dresses fit perfectly on the bride squad. I was overwhelmed with joy and couldn’t believe how magical it felt.
Sketched from the lines of her floral foam hibiscus from the bridesmaid box, mixed with a tracing of a ti plant from my photo of the Haiku gardens in Kaneohe, the “Haiku” print came to be. Representing Paige and her soulmate Daniel; the perfect flower and the strong power, I will always treasure their love captured in something I get to wear again and again.
Thank you for letting me be your something blue. I love you Paige Autumn Moon 🩵
