The boys got couple more games in this week at the branch county fair. Won both 3-2 and 8-2. We did not hit well at all but the long lay off did us no favors. It’s been a special special season. Only going to get better! Couple weeks off then fall ball starts August 30th for some of them. Enjoy our last weekend before school starts! Pitching and defense was great, hitting was not where we normally are. Finished the year 31-5. If you include Rec for some of them we went 44-6 on the year! The growth these kids had was insane. 12 more fall ball games and most of thr 10u boys are moving up!

Just want to make a post about every kid on this team. These kids were special.

Most improved

This was hard because every kid got way better in just a few short months. But if I had to give it to a most improved it would be to Jonathon Jackson. If you would’ve saw him when we first started practicing to what he is now you would be blown away. If we were playing on a 10u field with a full fence he would’ve hit more than a few homers the last couple weeks of the season. It’s was so much fun to watch him believe in himself. He is going to a problem moving forward.

Abel Signor- Abel is another one who got way better as the year went along. He went from catching a ball in the outfield and celebrating at the beginning of the year to catching the ball and firing it in immediately wherever it needed to go. We could always count on him to throw strikes

Uriah wolf- Uriah is going to be an athletic freak. He was the second youngest on the team but by the end of the year his play made it so hard to keep him from playing all the time. He is going to be really good down the line

Ashton Blonde- Ash is the coach’s dream. He learns very quickly and knows where he should be at all times. If he doesn’t he is not afraid to ask. I still think he is going to be the one when they get to high school is going to be the most feared hitter. He hits the ball so damn hard. Once he learns to believe in himself in the box bombs are coming

Nolan Stemen- the bird was the youngest kid on the team by a year. He could play 8u next year is how young he is. As a dad I love him so much. But as a coach he was frustrating 😂😂😂he finishes 2nd on this team in average and first in headaches giving to the coach. He probably led us in line drives. His best to ball skills are crazy. Once he wants to work hard he is going to give every one fits moving forward.

Lane Hamilton- he didn’t play with us much because he was playing up but every time we needed a big hit lane was always there for us. Pound for pound the best athlete in Hillsdale county for this age. (My opinion)

Jonah Tyler- Jonah is a dawg. He seems to relish when it’s time to get dirty. Once he figures out his body for baseball like he has for football. Look out. He always seems to make the right play when the ball is hit his way. And he is going to be a dominate lefty pitcher down the road.

Ryan Ramage- Ryan hit some bombs for us this year. I’m talking way over the fence. He hits the ball
So damn hard. When he discovers a weight room he is going to be hitting homers on the high school
Fields. He was our stalwart at 3rd base for 90% of the year. Throws strikes when we need him.

Marco Toffolo- Marco is another one of younger kids on the team. His last game of the year his hard work paid off with two big hits. Marco is 100% our best runner. His instincts and speed couldn’t be matched

Harrison Herman- ole Harry is what I would call a silent assassin. I think I heard him say 5 total sentences all year but he loves playing with these boys and would do whatever I asked him to do. He could bat lead off one game or 8th the next he never complain and always brought his game up 3 notches playing with us.

Hunter “big daddy” Kane- this kid is the coach’s dream. He goes into everything a 100%. His confidence level in his swing is so high. He was so vastly improved. He is a kid that is amazing all around. He gives his everything every time he is doing something.

Brody Carpenter- we were very thankful Brody joined his classmates. He is brought an energy we needed everytime out. You knew Brody was going to care so much he would go all out every pitch. We needed that some games. He was the perfect catcher we needed.

Kaline Stemen- if you were around this team the last month, you would hear the kids talk about how Kaline hasn’t struck out. Especially if he got two strikes you would hear the kids say “he isn’t going to strike out” In 132 at bats in 10u this year he didn’t strike out. He is the very best teammate and doesn’t ever think we are going to lose. Finished the year batting .825 and .871 in base percentage. Insanity

Last but not least Lyle Wolfinger- he was our ace. We knew if Lyle was pitching we were going to dominate. His hitting blew me away. He used his athleticism to his benefit that you don’t see kids at this age do. He is going to be in the newspaper a lot of the next 8 years for how great of an athlete he is.

Shoutout to my coaches who helped Sean Ramage, Mark Herman, Jared Carpenter, Mike Kane, and Matt Wolfinger. Shoutout to the parents and family members I know I asked a lot of the kids and you and the kids responded so positively. I will take every single kid and families on my teams every single day and twice on Tuesdays. I can’t thank you guys enough, it was so much fun coaching your boys, joking with you guys, and enjoying the ride with you all. Also shoutout to everyone who sponsored us or helped us through the year

If I’m missing someone I’m sorry but thank you all for everything. We couldn’t be successful without the village that helped make us great.

The last two weekends we played in the Coldwater night tourney and the Hillsdale mid summer classic.

We went 2-2 in Coldwater. Played a grand rapids team first and came out as flat as humanely possible. Didn’t wake up until late but that time it was too late.

Second game played Fremont all start. Came out hitting it early and often.

Third game played a full tilt team who was worth the hype to play against. They were insanely good and awesome to coach against.

Finished the tournament beating Coldwater red birds. Up 12-0. The final score was 13-11. Coldwater made a furious comeback.

This past weekend we rolled all day long.

We had 4 kids that led us with 5 hits a piece. Jonathon Jackson (Trey) didn’t make an out. Every single kid reached base multiple times. Defense was still an issue but didn’t kill us like it did the weekend prior. Pitching we threw 10 different kids in the 12 innings we played. So proud of these kids.

What a season this was! I’ll do a write up on our last two tourneys tomorrow, but today we won Bill’s Hillsdale Mid-Summer Classic today.

Started the day shutting down the Hillsdale Stingers 10-3
cruised 17-5 against Mc Storm
Then kind of played with our food for an inning before closing the door on Sturgis 20-8.

12 out of 13 reachd base first game at least once
All 13 reached base the last two games. To say I’m proud of the response from them today is under statement. Finished the year 28-6. 8 of the kids played in another league with me. They finished 41-7. Not bad for a first year competitive team. This team is a bunch of hillbillies who are so much fun to coach.

Onto tryouts and Fall Ball.
