Consider the Big Bake Johnson’s end of summer block party where we only eat food our neighbors cook and grow….and we don’t pay for any of it (only the ice cream if you’re not one of the first 60 people).
Bill and Pam will be slinging burgers with Boyden beef, and VT grown portabellas that Joie sourced for us. Speaking of Joie, she’s gonna put together a salad with Katherine with all the Foote Brook Farm freshies, and Katherine will be at the Bake slingin greens. Martha from salvation farms is going to work with Kate to make a yummy seasonal soup with gleaned veg, and Summer from Meals on Wheels will make us coooooookies. Ben will be there, too, from Waterman Orchards, selling his homemade ice cream…the first 60 cones will be free, though. Oh, and Mike from the Johnson Genny will be putting together a killer spread of meat, cheese and finger foods. Luke, Soph, Jasmine and Lotty will be making pizzas at the community oven, as they do. Hank will be back in town, this time leading a bluegrass quintet. Jenn from the Food Shelf will be there, running a 50/50 raffle for the Johnson Food Shelf.
