Kimberly Renoud CPT, Exercise Specialist

Kimberly Renoud CPT, Exercise Specialist You are given one life, one body. How you take care of it is up to you. Charles. In September 2019, I began personal training at the YMCA in Jefferson City.

Whether it be less body fat, more muscle, more energy, or maybe more mobility, As your trainer, I can help you get the most quality out of it. After graduating from WIU with my Bachelors degree in Kinesiology in 2005, I became a full time personal trainer at 24 Hour Fitness in St. In 2009, I left 24 as a Master Trainer to become an independent contractor for Emerge Fitness Training, where I was a

personal trainer, strength coach, exercise specialist as well as boot camp instructor. After 15 wonderful years, I made the decision to leave Emerge and train in Jefferson City, Missouri full time. In May of 2024, I went from an employee to an independent contractor with the Y, allowing me to not only increase my availability, but also incorporate more styles of training such as sports performance, post-rehab, and strength and conditioning.

I’m not sure how accurate this picture is, but I can tell you after the month I’ve had between school, adding extra PT clients, and losing my dog Molina, my body was feeling like it. I was tense and tight and just a hot mess. Thankfully, I had a 90 minute Swedish massage scheduled with Rachel at Earthbound Awakening this past Thursday. It was exactly what not only my body, but my mind needed as well.

Taking care of yourself isn’t all about diet and exercise, it also needs care with alignment and deep tissue relief.

Thank you Rachel, I’ll be back soon 😊

I love getting messages like this 😁.
Everyone has different goals when it comes to their health. For some it’s weight loss. This female came to me with the goal of being able to put on muscle. Her diet was very clean just low on the protein side and she was missing a few other key nutrients. We started on a thorough strength training program, first focusing on her weak areas, then progressing to bigger lifts with perfect form. It’s not a sprint, it’s a marathon but she’s well on her way to hitting her goal!

Me to ChatGPT: “Turn me into a cheerleader.”
ChatGPT: “Seriously? You?”

Let me explain…

“I am your trainer, not your cheerleader.” One of my famous quotes my clients have heard in the gym. I don’t cheer them on. I push them, I annoy them, I ignore a lot of whining, I do what I have to do for them to surpass their threshold, to do what I know they are capable of.

Now, outside of the gym, totally different story. My clients that completed their first half marathon or their first 5k or got first in a competition, I’m celebrating with you. My clients who did a strenuous activity without being sore, my clients who graduated high school or college, I am jumping up and down for you. I will be the first one cheering on my clients who achieved their goals to look amazing in their wedding dress or feel confident in a swimsuit on vacation.

It’s not just current clients, I love hearing from former ones too. Whether it be through social media or via texts, I love seeing them continue their fitness journey even though I don’t see them in the gym anymore. I’ll always be rooting for their success. Some have found different gyms or different types of workouts, but I’m still excited for them.

Life happens and even though some may face roadblocks, they find a way to keep going. They have that grit they may not have once had. That makes me a very proud trainer and it’s why I continue to love what I do. There’s no better job, I guarantee.

To my “former” clients (even though they’ll always be clients to me), keep at it, you’re far from being done! To my current clients, let’s go, we have work to do 💪.

I began training Audrey almost a year ago. She was going into her 8th grade year and really wanted to work on her triple jump and speed. At today’s conference championship meet, she finished in 1st in triple jump and 2nd in the 4x200m relay (setting an all new PR and school record).

“New Year, New Me!” “New Year, New Goals!” Every single year it’s the same thing. We believe that the tick of a clock or the flip of a new calendar should mean that we need to make changes. It’s still winter. It’s still cold out. So why do we put so much pressure on ourselves that this is when we need to make big changes?

Here’s my advice: Don’t do it.

So hear me out. I’m not saying that you should binge all winter and fluff up like a bear about to hibernate, but I’m also saying let’s not do anything drastic.

I remember the quote, I believe Brad Paisley said, something about the New Year is the beginning of your book with 365 pages. Okay, say it is. When you are reading a book, you start with Chapter 1, right? Does that 1st or 2nd Chapter have the main plot unfold and get to the climatic part? Of course not. The first couple of chapters are an introduction to the characters and the setting is laid out. At this point the reader has no idea what’s going to unfold but they keep reading to find out. Chapter by chapter, the story (usually) develops and gets better.

That’s how your year should be as well. Use January and February as the beginning of a book. Learn more about who you are, what kind of character you want to be. For example, if you are wanting to improve your health and losing weight has always been difficult, take this time to get your hormones tested. I know firsthand that hormones can wreak havoc on your body and cause all kinds of problems and you will not lose a pound no matter how hard you work out or how clean your diet is. Maybe you struggle getting enough sleep? Sleep is imperative to a healthy and balanced body. It’s a good time to work on a better schedule that will allow you to get more rest. Hormones, sleep, nutrition, and exercise are the four components of a healthier lifestyle, for sure. Think of your body like a car. You have to have all 4 wheels working or you won’t be going anywhere.

The body is a phenomenal thing. When the hormones are balanced and you’re getting enough sleep, the body has more energy, and naturally, the body wants to be more active. And when the body is feeling good, it generally craves food that’s good for you. Crazy, right? Funny how that works.

So take your time on your wellness journey, one chapter at a time. And be good to your body. It’s the only one you get! Happy 2026!
