Caitlyn Kremer and Everett Peters swam this week at Central Zones USA Championships. This means they held a minimum of a AAA time to be invited. On Wednesday they meet their Missouri Valley Team and practiced in an amazing aquatic center. Both Caitlyn and Everett swam Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Caitlyn (13-14) swam the 50 Free at 29.12 with an improvement of 0.16 swimming against over 100 swimmers she placed 47th. 50 Back at 33.16 with a time improvement of 2.26. Placing 33rd. 200 Free Relay she swam the 3rd leg with a 29.93 placing 11th. 100 Back she hasn’t swam in a while she swam a 1:13.95 with just at a 3 second improvement placing 51st.

Everett (10 u) swam the 200 Free Relay swimming the 2nd leg of the relay with a 32.89 which was the fastest leg. They placed 8th. 100 Back at 1.20.35 time improvement of 0.10 and placed 9th. 50 Fly at 36.68 with a time improvement of 1.22 and placed 19th. 50 Back at 37.06 placing 6th. He also swam the backstroke for his team 200 medley relay with a time of 2:30.09 placing 8th.

This overall was an excellent experience and both swimmers.They gained new friends and this shows how this individual sport is also a team sport. Go JCAY and MOVAL.

If you’re new to the swim team you might not know that the pool has to close if there is lightning for 30 mins after each strike. This may help you plan your day if practice hasn’t officially been canceled yet.

Our first swim meet is coming up on May 28th evening start time. It is located indoors at the Heckart Center in Sedalia Registration deadline is 5/22/26. Use the go motion app to register.

The Barracudas Swim Team Coaches will be hosting a workshop for those who want to improve their swimming technique. This is perfect for lap swimmers, triathletes, and for those who want to learn to swim more efficiently. Those who are new to swimming are welcome. Common stroke flaws, flip turns, stroke drills and how to build your own workout are some of the topics in store! Learn from the best! We will start in the classroom and move to the pool.
