34 Raceway race recap:
Heat race 2-DNF (6)
Feature 13-13
Another race, another battle all night long. We showed up and pill drew 4th lowest #, which set us up for outside front row of heat 1. 3 laps into the race, I lost the belts to the pulley. Engine heat shot up like a rocket, so I pulled off before blowing another engine.
We got back to pits and started wrenching, we fought the pulley for half an hour before it finally came off, but in the process we broke 5 separate belts trying to attach them without taking the pulley off. Thankfully I found a set that would fit after asking everyone I could, but we were only able to get 1 belt on the pulley before having to get ready for the feature, still missing a belt.
Already set behind the 8 ball, we started 13th in the feature. Had great speed on the bottom, I just couldn’t get around Nick G. For the spot and I had #52 on top line above me so I had to stick down low behind Nick. There was a red on lap 10, and After the restart I struggled with getting the car to exit corners, losing speed on exits of corners. I’ll have to watch the video, but I know I got around 2/3 cars before that red came out. Just didn’t have the car at the end of the race
Another night of new issues, this has really started to wear on us as a team.
With that being said, we’re taking a break until July 17th. We’re hoping to have our new engine build done this month, we just got our SBS FK Shocks delivered to the house, we just need to regroup some.
We’ll get home, tear the whole car apart, and just check, check, and check some more. One of these nights, we won’t have issues. I was pretty hopefully of a good night tonight until our heat race engine temperature issues, we were running in 3rd with 2/3 laps left to go, I’ll have to look at the video.
Track was awesome all day today, with a high # of cars in the pits the crew here at 34 did a great job giving us ALL racers a great surface tonight. A huge thanks to Brad & Jessie, the whole 34 team, as well as LaVeine Sanitation for getting us some goodies, and free pit pas for drivers, free entry for fans. A great group of people up here at 34 make this possible every race.
We won’t be at Double-X Speedway Sunday night, our next scheduled race is July 17 @ Lincoln Speedway for the first and only time this year. Hoping we can get up there for a good night, really similar to Jacksonville racing.
