About me :
“My racing career started the day I was born, with my parents owning a micro sprint track here in Pittsfield until 20010. I started racing at the age of 5, starting out great with a win in my first race in a quarter midget with CCQMA in Taylorville IL. From there I went onto win the national championship for CCQMA in 2006 in the novice division. We’d move up into micro sprints in 2007 where I raced restricted micros for 2 years. In 2009 we bought a JR sprint and raced in sweet springs MO every weekend.
Took a break from racing until 2022, raced an LO206 asphalt kart until now! We bought the car last year and this will be our first year racing a sprint car, and first year racing dirt since 2009!
We have a Maxim Chassis
Small block chevy engine
Will be racing in Quincy, Jacksonville, Lincoln & 34 Raceway!”

🎥🏁 34 Raceway Race Day Recap Video 🏁🎥

If you missed Saturday night's action at 34 Raceway, here's your chance to ride along with us from start to finish.

Heat race was messed up I thought I finished 4th but got 5th!

What a rollercoaster of a night.

After spending the last three weeks rebuilding, troubleshooting, and working countless late nights to get this car back on the track, we finally got the opportunity to see what our new engine combination could do. The results were promising.

We started on the pole of the feature after winning the redraw and found ourselves right in the middle of an incredible battle for the lead. The racing was intense, clean, and some of the most fun I've had behind the wheel in a long time.

For the first time this season, I truly felt like we belonged up front competing with the guys who race here every week.

Unfortunately, our night came to an early end on lap 15, but not before showing some serious speed and proving that this team is heading in the right direction.

The video includes:
🏁 Heat Race Highlights
🏁 Feature Race Action
🏁 Four-car battle for the lead
🏁 Onboard GoPro footage
🏁 The mechanical issue that ended our night
🏁 Some of the best laps we've put together all season

While the final result wasn't what we wanted, there are a lot of positives to take away from this race. We learned a ton, gained confidence, and most importantly proved that the speed is there.

Thank you to everyone who supports Austin Motley Racing, whether it's our sponsors, family, crew members, or the fans who follow along every week. We couldn't do this without you.

Now let's figure out what's wrong, get the car back in the shop, and get ready for June 12th for our first race of the season @ Jacksonville Speedway

Drop a comment and let me know what your favorite battle or moment from the video was! 👇

Well…..

34 Raceway race recap:

Heat race : 1-5
Feature : 1-DNF

Came up to Iowa again, hoping for some luck tonight. It seems we left that at home.
Hot laps were good, change the gear to drop the RPM’s/wheel spins. Went out for heat 1 starting 1st. Had a good battle for 2nd & 3rd until I lost power steering and fell back to 5th after a restart of lap 5 bunched us all up again. Car felt a little loose during the heat race so we made some more changes.
Changed LR, did some other things, and found out we won the redraw and we’d be starting in the pole for the 20 lap feature.

Feature was fantastic, car was set up immaculate for the bottom, which is what we wanted. 34 was a little slick tonight, but that’s to be expected with this heat. Nick & I had a good battle for the lead before he took over. I would get passed by fall back to 4th before battling with McCain, Nick, myself and another car and got myself set into 3rd place. The top 3 separated and lap traffic was coming up. I went to try the top in 3&4, came down and in 1&2 on lap 12/13 the car let go going into the corner. Engine heat was 220 and rising but pressure never faulted. Taco-meter was at 7600.

I was doing so good, stayed consistent on the bottom and was even catching the 2nd place car. I don’t really know how to feel about this tonight. We won the re draw and had a damn good chance at getting 3rd, and maybe even 2nd.

Congratulations to McCain Richard’s on your win tonight, and thanks to Nick Guernsey for racing me clean and leaving me room. It was really fun battling with 4 cars for the 1st position, I hope it looked as cool as it felt.

Gut wrenching night tonight, but we’ll get home and figure out what’s wrong. We think something is wrong with cooling the engine, but gotta get home to get a better look. I hate this for dad, Dalton, grandpa and mom, as well as all of our sponsors. Tonight was the first night we could have been up there with the guys that do it every week, and I guess that in itself is a win to me tonight.

Race cars are frustrating..

Full GoPro video of race day will be edited and posted TOMORROW! You’re gonna want to watch this one, a very entertaining race with a lot of technical driving. I’m pretty proud of how well I rolled the bottom tonight. We’ll see what’s wrong!

After some trouble shooting at the track before headed home, our water pump is fine, radiator was full and there’s no engine damage from what we can see. We think I may have stalled the engine. We’ll diagnose fully more this week, the good news is we have until June 12th to get this figured out!

Thank you to our incredible partners for the 2026 season!

🚨🏁 WAKE UP... IT'S RACE DAY! 🏁🚨

Tonight, we're headed back to 34 Raceway in West Burlington, Iowa!

After what feels like an eternity, the #37 Austin Motley Racing Sprint Car is ready to hit the track once again. Ever since our engine failure earlier this month, it's been a nonstop effort to get this thing back together and race-ready.

Over the last three weeks, there have been countless late nights, long days in the shop, and more troubleshooting than I can even begin to explain. There were moments when we weren't sure if we'd make it back this quickly, but thanks to an incredible group of people, we're loaded up and ready to race.

A special thank you goes out to Dalton and Dad, who have spent countless hours right alongside me turning wrenches, chasing parts, diagnosing issues, and refusing to give up until we got this thing figured out. None of this would be possible without the work those two have put in.

Thank you as well to Mom and Grandpa for all the support behind the scenes. Whether it's helping wherever needed, keeping things moving, or simply supporting this crazy racing dream, your efforts never go unnoticed.

Now it's time to see if all those hours pay off.

🔧 Jacksonville Speedway Test Night Recap 🔧

What a night.

The day started around 4:00 PM when we rolled into the pits and immediately got to work. We began by making some changes to the magneto that was already in the car and headed out for engine heat. The engine would start, but it was still misfiring badly. We swapped wires around, adjusted the mag timing, and got a little closer, but something still wasn’t right.

After engine heat and no real progress, we decided it was time to switch over to our internal coil mag. That’s when we discovered one of our biggest problems — the cap was installed 180 degrees from where it should have been.

At that point, several people stepped in to help, and I can’t thank them enough.

A huge thank you to Randy Standridge, Ron Standridge, Will Armitage, the Haley family, and everyone else who lent a hand throughout the night. Without their help, we probably wouldn’t have figured this thing out. Randy was absolutely instrumental in getting us headed in the right direction, taking control of the mag setup and helping us get everything installed correctly. The Standridges helped us get the gap set properly, while Will and the Haleys helped retrace wiring and troubleshoot the entire system.

Once we got everything corrected, we changed the oil due to fuel contamination from all the previous starting attempts and started putting everything back together.

A huge thank you as well to Kenny Dobson and the entire Jacksonville Speedway crew for allowing us to get on the track and turn some laps after the races were over.

I think we ended up making about 6-8 laps, but wow… what an eye-opener.

The track had slicked off considerably after the night’s racing, and honestly, I wasn’t expecting the engine to be nearly as strong as it was. This thing is FAST. We finally got a glimpse of what we’ve got under the hood, and it’s safe to say we have a very strong race engine.

Now it’s up to me as the driver to learn how to maximize it and keep up with it.

I’m confident that won’t take long. The biggest thing is knowing we have a race car capable of competing. That’s all I’ve wanted since the engine setback earlier this month.

With that being said…

🏁 WE’RE HEADED TO 34 RACEWAY TOMORROW NIGHT! 🏁

We’ll be making the trip to West Burlington, Iowa on Saturday, May 30th. This will be our first trip back since the opening weekend of May when we suffered our engine failure.

We’ve got a few maintenance items to take care of before loading up, but after tonight, I’m more excited than ever to get back behind the wheel and see what this car can do.

See you all at the infamous 3/8-mile oval tomorrow night!

🔧 ENGINE UPDATE 🔧

Our fuel system finally arrived yesterday afternoon, so we headed over to Walker's shop in Pleasant Hill to continue working on getting the engine timed and ready to fire.

A huge thank you to Josh Walker, Terry Walker, Dalton, Dad, and everyone who put in the time last night. We spent about 4.5 hours in the shop troubleshooting and trying to get everything sorted out.

Along the way, we discovered a few issues. One of our magnetos is physically too large to fit, so we moved on to the other two we had available. We quickly found out that one magneto uses an internal coil while the other uses an external coil mounted on the cap, which led to some confusion while tracing wiring. We also discovered that one of our distributor caps—the same one that was on the engine when it blew earlier this month—was wired incorrectly.

Thankfully, with Josh and Terry's help, we were able to identify exactly what needed to be changed to make everything work correctly. Dad, Dalton, and I will be installing a fresh set of plug wires from Tommy Scott onto the corrected cap and magneto setup, and we're hopeful that will solve the remaining issues.

We did manage to get the engine fired up once, and it ran for about 3–5 minutes, but it was still misfiring pretty badly. The good news is that we're confident we've found the problem.

With the new wires and plugs installed correctly, we're hoping tonight is the night everything comes together. We'll find out soon! 🤞🏁
