I’ve been training women since 2015. I’ve made it a point not to be political on this platform. Unfortunately, as a pre-and postnatal fitness trainer and women’s fitness specialist, my job is inherently political in our current climate. My existence as a woman and mother has been politicized. I have seen over and over again how vital access to care, treatment, and medical privacy is for all of us. I have friends that would have DIED without access to healthcare (yes, abortion is healthcare.) An 18 year old in Texas died this week, unable to access care for her miscarriage until it was too late. The rights we have lost in many states, including the one I live in, are vital to women’s health. I voted in Florida to preserve body autonomy and medical privacy for women by voting YES on amendment 4. The reality is that our rights are very much on the ballot, locally and federally. The decisions made will impact the health, fitness, wellness, and lives of women for generations to come. I share this in hopes you will all understand why I feel the need to speak out about this here. I want my clients to know I support their right to make healthcare decisions with their family and physician. Hopefully in the future women’s health will not be politicized and our rights will no longer be on the ballot. Until then, I do feel it is my professional responsibility to speak out about this and share where I stand.
