Just a quick post to highlight my awesome client and friend Leslie Turner Rhodes.

Leslie has been consistent.
She has risen to every challenge, whether it was me upping her weights in her workouts, or saying "hey, let's try eating more" which is almost always met with resistance as we feel we need to eat less. Not always true. And sometimes it is WHAT we are eating less of that is holding us back. Like protein.

Her post and message says it all though.
Upping her protein as well as steps and fiber showed up in her results.

Keep up the great work, Leslie!

Side note: Leslie has missed just 3 assigned workouts in two years. Impressive!
Even with some injuries along the way, she continued to show up and we modified.

You make it a point to go to the gym regularly.

Perhaps you've been dedicating an hour each day to your fitness routine since the beginning of the year.

Yet, despite your efforts, the scale remains unchanged, your clothes don't fit any looser, and you don't notice any changes or feel different 😑

While regular exercise is essential, it's the other 23 hours of your day that play a significant role in changing your body composition and revealing the results of your hard work.

Factors such as
low daily steps 👣
not tracking your food intake ⚖️
nutrition quality 🍬
alcohol consumption 🍷
sleep 😴
stress 😵‍💫
eating multiple meals out 🍕
hydration 💦

All of these contribute to your progress

What you do the other 23 hours of the day is just as important if not more important than that hour at the gym

Protein and fiber at breakfast will set you up for a day where cravings are reduced, helping you stay on track! No afternoon crash drawing you to a vending machine full of processed foods

Today’s has
43 G protein
20 fat
33 carbs
5 fiber (my goal is 25 so this is good)

I added cottage cheese to the eggs to bump up the protein. Fiber comes from the oats and walnuts



(Eggs, cottage cheese, colby jack cheese, Chili crunchy sauce, red peppers, onions, taco seasoned ground turkey, oats, walnuts, sugar free maple syrup)

As January comes to a close, how did you do with your fitness goals?

Going strong? Struggling?

I personally get overwhelmed myself with the constant barrage of ‘eat this, lift that, cardio, no cardio, supplements…..😵‍💫’. The ads are relentless and make you question your every movement, until you just throw in the towel.

What if you just focused on the basics?
Keep it simple

These would be mine

Move your body every day
Eat more whole food and less processed
Hydrate
Rest/Sleep
Get some sunlight

Not a single suggested number, product or supplement in the list. No ‘this is better than that’

Most people aren’t looking to be an elite athlete, body builder or run marathons. Most of us just want to feel better.

Please. Stop believing you have to do 700 things, spend lots of money on products, or loads of time exercising to feel better. That’s all propaganda!

January 1st!

Have you chosen to focus on nutrition?

Here are a couple of tips:

🌟 Download a nutrition tracking app like Lose It. Chronometer. My Fitness Pal. Start logging what you are eating. See where you are falling short each day. Ex:not eating adequate protein, (common for lots of people) fiber or drinking water.

This is like a financial budget. If you don’t know what you’re spending/eating, you have no idea where you need to make change to achieve goals. It’s an eye opener.

🌟 Someone posts a food pic.
Immediately you feel pressured to eat exactly what they posted because hey, they are doing great so this must be THE way! But you don’t like oatmeal. Or eggs. Or bananas. Or whatever is on my plate in this picture. Pssst…..,.
Don’t. Eat. Foods. You. Don’t. Enjoy.

That is the easiest way to burn out and never make lasting changes. Find the foods YOU like that also meet your macro goals and build your day from there.
This is where we make lasting changes.

🌟 Start with the quantity of the foods that you are currently eating, get that in line, then start making small swaps to achieve those protein, fat and carb goals

There’s nothing magical about starting your health journey after January 1st. Starting now will help you avoid that winter scale increase.

Openings at 7 and 8 am for in person training in female only gym. Classes are small for personal attention.

I also have availability for virtual training through my app. Training is tailored to your fitness level and includes personal interaction with your coach (me!)
Work out when it suits your schedule with added accountability, which is key.
