What happens when resilience meets systems change?
In our latest episode of Narativ Inc Leadership Story Talks, Jerome Deroy and I sat down with Giovanna Rossi, MSc, ICF-ACC — public affairs strategist, leadership coach, host of The Well Woman Show on NPR and founder of Family Friendly New Mexico — for a powerful conversation about leadership, burnout, caregiving, and the systems that shape our lives.
One story especially stayed with me: As a 9-year-old, Giovanna watched her single mother walk across the stage to receive her college diploma while raising children and working multiple jobs. That moment became a defining lens through which she now views leadership, resilience, and the gaps in the systems designed to support working families.
We also explored:
- Why burnout is often tied to misalignment between values and actions
- The “invisible workload” carried by caregivers and leaders
- How storytelling helps connect policy work to real human experience
- Why community and authentic listening are essential for sustainable leadership
One insight that really resonated with me: “When our values are aligned with our actions, we operate in a state of ease and flow.”
This conversation is a reminder that leadership isn’t just about performance — it’s about creating systems and cultures where people can thrive without sacrificing their wellbeing.
