Pause, Process, Proceed: A Simple Framework for Better Decisions
In high-pressure moments, the instinct is to react. But the best decisions don’t come from urgency—they come from clarity. That’s where the Three P’s come in - Pause, Process, Proceed.
1️⃣ Pause – Step back. Remove yourself from the immediate emotion of the moment. A quick decision made in frustration, stress, or excitement often isn’t the right one.
2️⃣ Process – Assess the situation. What’s the real challenge? What are the options? What’s the long-term impact of each move? This step turns reaction into strategy.
3️⃣ Proceed – Now, with a clear mind and an intentional plan, take action. Not from panic. Not from pressure. But from a place of control.
This applies in business, sports, and life. A coach adjusting tactics mid-game, a founder navigating setbacks, or a player learning to manage emotions on the field—all of them perform at their best when they Pause, Process, Proceed.
The next time pressure hits, don’t just react. Pause first. Let the moment settle. Then make the right move—not just the fast one
