Want to share your player’s hit, catch, strikeout, stolen base, or big moment without making people search through the whole game?

The easiest way is to share the video using YouTube’s Start at feature.

This lets you send someone a link that opens the video right at the moment you choose.

-------------------------------------

What “Start at” Means

When you share a YouTube video, YouTube can create a special link that starts the video at a specific time.

So instead of telling someone:

“Go watch the video and fast-forward to the third inning.”

You can send a link that starts right where the highlight begins.

For example:

Watch this at 14:32 — big double to left field.

When someone clicks the link, the video should open right around that moment.

-------------------------------------

How to Share a Highlight from a Computer

This is usually the easiest method.

Open the YouTube video.
Find the moment you want to share.
Pause the video right before the highlight begins.
Click the Share button under the video.
Check the box that says Start at.
Make sure the time shown is correct.
Click Copy.
Paste the link into a text, email, Facebook post, or message.

That’s it.

Anyone who clicks the link should be taken straight to that part of the video.

-------------------------------------

How to Share a Highlight from a Phone

Open the video in the YouTube app.
Find the moment you want to share.
Pause the video right before the highlight begins.
Tap Share.
Look for an option that says Start at.
Turn that option on.
Tap Copy link or choose where you want to share it.

Depending on your phone, app version, or how the video is opened, the screen may look a little different.

-------------------------------------

If You Do Not See “Start at” on Your Phone

No problem.

You can still share the video and tell people where to watch.

Pause the video at the highlight.
Look at the time shown on the video.
Tap Share.
Copy the regular video link.
In your message or post, include the time.

Example:

Great play by #12 at 22:18.

Or:

Johnny’s RBI single starts at 35:42.

That still makes it easy for friends and family to find the moment.

-------------------------------------

Another Easy Computer Method

On a computer, you can also do this:

Open the YouTube video.
Pause right before the highlight.
Right-click on the video.
Click Copy video URL at current time.
Paste that link wherever you want to share it.

This does the same thing as the Start at checkbox.

-------------------------------------

What Should Parents Share?

Good moments to share include:

Big hits
Doubles, triples, or home runs
Great catches
Strikeouts
Smart baserunning
Stolen bases
First hits
Game-ending plays
Diving stops
Good throws
Team celebrations
Funny dugout moments

It does not have to be a perfect highlight. Sometimes grandparents just want to see the moment.

-------------------------------------

Tips for Better Sharing

When you share the link, add a short note so people know what they are about to watch.

Examples:

Big swing from #7 here. Double into left field.

Great job by our catcher blocking one in the dirt.

Nice play at shortstop to get the out at first.

Proud of this kid. Stayed with it and made a great play.

A little description makes the link more fun to click.

-------------------------------------

Important Note

A Start at link does not create a separate video. It still points to the full game video, but it starts at the highlight you selected.

That means people can watch the highlight first, then keep watching the rest of the game if they want.

-------------------------------------

Quick Example

Let’s say your player makes a great catch at 18 minutes and 27 seconds.

You would share the link and write:

Great catch by #4 at 18:27.

Or, if you used the Start at option:

Great catch by #4 right here.

Then paste the link.

That’s all there is to it.
