The Dallas Cowboys are signing running back Tyler Goodson off the Atlanta Falcons' practice squad, per Aaron Wilson of KPRC2. 👀

The move comes after Malik Davis suffered a season-ending hip injury in practice ahead of the Week 1 loss to the Giants. Dallas had already signed Israel Abanikanda to take Davis' spot, so Goodson gives the team four running backs on the depth chart, at least until a corresponding move is announced.

Goodson brings special teams experience the Cowboys can use, with 11 career kick returns for 297 yards and 306 special teams snaps. The 5-foot-9, 197-pound back ran a 4.42 and projects as a speed and pass-catching option more than a between-the-tackles runner.

The Iowa product went undrafted in 2022 and passed through Green Bay and Indianapolis before Atlanta. His most productive year came in 2024, when he posted 153 rushing yards and a touchdown on 32 carries. His role shrank in 2025, with nine carries for 24 yards across 11 games.

Dallas has not made the signing official, and it remains unclear whether Goodson replaces Abanikanda or covers for another injury in the backfield. More should be clear later in the day.

Cowboys RB Malik Davis has been ruled out of Sunday’s game vs. the Giants because of a hip injury suffered in Friday’s practice, per sources. He is undergoing further examination to determine severity of the injury.
