ISR Hammond is proud to partner with the Live Like Jake Foundation to help provide scholarship opportunities for families who may need financial assistance with ISR lessons!

Water safety is something I am incredibly passionate about, and I never want a family to assume survival swim lessons are out of reach simply because of the cost.

The Live Like Jake Foundation was created in memory of Jake Roarke Morrison and works to raise awareness about childhood drowning prevention while helping families access life-saving swim instruction. Through their scholarship program, qualifying families may be able to receive financial assistance toward ISR lessons.

If you’ve been wanting to enroll your child but finances have been holding you back, I encourage you to look into the Live Like Jake scholarship program. 💙

𝐅𝐑𝐎𝐌 𝐎𝐍𝐄 𝐈𝐒𝐑 𝐌𝐎𝐌:

Hearing another tragic story of a young child drowning, I found myself searching for any kind of peace of mind being surrounded by a river, pond and pool. I found ISR Hammond, it was quite a drive for our family but we committed.
What Laura provided I could never thank her enough. When we started my fourth child was not speaking and in therapy. She was so patient. Not only was she teaching him life saving skills but she took the time to practice his communication skills. I found myself overwhelmed at lessons, not with fear but with pride watching my child’s skills grow. He was becoming confident in his swimming abilities. As parents the anxiety of water never goes away but a healthy fear is needed. Laura gave us the peace of mind that if our child found themselves in a dangerous situation he could get himself to safety.
That time and money is the best investment we could have ever made. The only regret is not finding her sooner for my other children.
Today, my child is thriving as a strong swimmer. He tried out for the local swim team and was commended for his backstroke. The first person I thought of was Mrs. Laura at ISR Hammond. Our family is forever grateful for her time and dedication to teaching these lifesaving skills. I never miss an opportunity to brag about her and ISR.

𝐅𝐑𝐎𝐌 𝐎𝐍𝐄 𝐈𝐒𝐑 𝐌𝐎𝐌:

I decided to enroll my son in ISR because I wanted him to learn the skills that would be able to save him if he ever fell into a body of water unsupervised. I wanted to feel confident that if I had to step away from him and leave him under the supervision of another adult he would be okay.

Now that my son is older I have seen his love for swimming blossom since his first ISR lesson at 1 year old to now after taking yearly refresher and multiple maintenance classes 5 years later. He felt confident in his abilities to join a swim team and swim competitively at only 5 years old. He had a firm foundation of the necessary skills needed and was able to build on those during swim practice with his coaches. He found out during practice that he loved to swim the backstroke because he had such a great foundation in floating and it came easily to him! I'm so thankful for the skills he learned when he was a baby that he's been able to transition into his love for swimming.

I was so happy with my decision to place my son in ISR that I also placed my daughter in ISR at the age of 1 for two years in a row and plan on bringing her for refresher and maintenance classes as needed. She has become such a confident little swimmer and it's such a joy to see. Other people who aren't familiar with ISR are shocked at how well she does in the water without the help of floaties at only 2 years old.

Looking back, ISR has given my family the confidence to be able to enjoy swimming and not have the constant fear of accidental drownings. It gave my children the confidence to trust in their own swimming skills and not the use of floating devices that give a false sense of safety and security. My children have never used a floatation device and prefer not to even use them when given the choice. They have the freedom and confidence to swim and float as they please. (Always with adult supervision.)

I would tell any parent that you can't put a price on peace of mind and safety. By the end of the 6-8 weeks you will know every penny was worth it and you will see the results and improvement week by week. The relationship and trust my children have built with Mrs. Laura is something they treasure. She truly cares about each and every child and finds different ways to engage them and make their lessons fun. We were blessed to find her and cherish the time our kids get to spend with her during lessons.

Who says ISR is just for swimsuits? ☀️❄️

These sweet twins are proving that floating is a year-round skill!

Why? Because children don’t always end up in the water wearing a swimsuit. They may be wearing pajamas, play clothes, or winter outfits.

Different clothing feels different in the water. It can become heavy, change the way a child moves, and create a new sensory experience. By practicing in both swimsuits and clothing, our ISR students learn that no matter what they’re wearing, the goal stays the same: roll over, float, rest, and breathe.

These two may have different expressions 😂, but they’re both learning a lifesaving skill together—hand in hand. 💙

Because water emergencies don’t wait for swimsuit season… and neither do we.

Parents, have you asked yourself this?

If you own a pool, even if you don't have kids, have you asked yourself this about the neighborhood kids or those who come and visit?

What barriers have you put in place to stop a child from getting to the water if you are distracted or aren't there?

Are there locks on all windows, gates, doors (and dog doors) leading to where the water is?

Are there alarms on those same exit/entry points? Do those alarms sound different to your house alarm, so that if they go off, you immediately know that someone is trying to access the water area?

Is there a mesh pool safety fence or a kid catcher net on/around your pool at all times when it is not in use? Perimeter and iron fencing don't count. Kids can scale and climb those. You need a proper mesh safety fence that completely blocks access to the pool.

Is your fence at least 4-5 feet high with a self-closing, self-latching gate that has an automatic locking mechanism when it closes?

Do you have all patio furniture pulled away from the fence and secured so that it is unable to be dragged to it by a child who might use it to climb the fence or open the gate to the fence and gain access to the water?

Do you have a sign on your fence to remind gardeners and anyone else accessing the pool area to make sure the gate is closed and locked before they leave?

If you haven't asked yourself these things, NOW is the time. The heat is here and kids love water. Let's make sure they can't get to it without you.

“𝐑𝐮𝐦𝐨𝐫 𝐡𝐚𝐬 𝐢𝐭 𝐌𝐫𝐬. 𝐋𝐚𝐮𝐫𝐚 𝐤𝐞𝐞𝐩𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐠𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐟𝐟 𝐡𝐢𝐝𝐝𝐞𝐧…” 👀

After a hard ISR lesson, word around the pool deck is that 𝐌𝐫𝐬. 𝐋𝐚𝐮𝐫𝐚’𝐬 𝐟𝐚𝐦𝐨𝐮𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐠𝐮𝐫𝐭 𝐦𝐞𝐥𝐭𝐬 make an appearance for her tiniest swimmers. And let’s just say… they might be worth the swim. 😋

This little swimmer, Madelyn, 9 months, seems to agree…lesson done, smiles on deck, and waiting patiently for the post lesson treat.

Because around here we work hard, learn big life-saving skills, and celebrate the little victories too. 💦

Good news!

I’ve opened up an 𝐚𝐝𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐈𝐒𝐑 𝐬𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐛𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐀𝐮𝐠𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝟏𝟎𝐭𝐡, and enrollment is now open.

Many parents think summer lessons have to happen early in the season, but 𝐀𝐮𝐠𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐚 𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐬. By this point in the summer, many children are already comfortable being around water from family pools, beach trips, and vacations. This makes it the perfect time to 𝐛𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐥 𝐰𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐬𝐚𝐟𝐞𝐭𝐲 𝐬𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐬 𝐛𝐞𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐟𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐛𝐞𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐧𝐞𝐱𝐭 𝐩𝐨𝐨𝐥 𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐨𝐧 𝐫𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐬 𝐚𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝.
ISR lessons teach children critical 𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐟-𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐜𝐮𝐞 𝐬𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐬 such as rolling onto their back to float, resting, and breathing until help arrives. These are life-saving skills every child should have.

When your own kid grabs the GoPro and says, “Let me show them how fun it is!” 🫶💦

There’s something so special about watching them fall in love with the water!

The goal is always safety first… but seeing them truly enjoy the water? That’s the sweetest part. 💙

Sometimes the best way to show other kids how peaceful and fun the pool can be… is to let a kid do the showing. 🎥🌊
