The end is always bittersweet.
Alaska’s a beautiful paradise with endless adventure. Have had the privilege of meeting some amazing people this season, creating some lifelong memories and I’m pretty sure this smile is permanently stuck on.
As the season winds down with the last week staring us in the face this is definitely the right way to kick things off and finish with a bang.

Wandering the lakeside at 4 am, watching the sun slowly crest over the horizon.
The morning hours are honestly some of my favorite times of the day. The cold crisp air, gentle morning light, and still reflections provide such a tranquil, peaceful environment.
This morning in particular was one of my favorite on this trip. I was wandering up and down the icy bank enjoying a cup of joe, and just soaking in the views, snapping photos, and feeling lucky to have this place all to myself.
At one point, a wolf howled on the far side of the lake, breaking the silence and echoing across the valley. I was unperturbed but set my camera down and just sat there appreciating the scenery and subtle sounds around me.

Nobody knows what’s going to happen tomorrow.
We can all hypothesize about what’s to be or what the future may hold, but the one garruantee we do have is that we are here today.
Don’t waste your time as it is precious. It’s the one thing we can’t get back, do what you love, follow your dreams, accomplish your goals, be kind and loving to others, and push yourself to be the best human being you can possibly be.
To waste your time or life is only cheating yourself of a memorable experience you could have had. Life is to short to live with that regret.

I was scrambling a rock face to a summit yesterday on a.. subtle drop off... when I slipped slightly and knocked a rock loose. I turned back thinking nothing of it, until I heard the thunderous reverberations below me. The avalanche that ensued tumbled its way into the ravine below leaving me transfixed hanging on the cliff side.
What if my happy ass free climbing hadn’t been so fortuitous.
Made me think of all the things I would’ve said.
I know that 1/10 of the people that skim through these photos usually read the captions, but for all the “be safe” and “be careful” I’ve heard lately it made me contemplate what I would’ve said if I died. Not seeking it out but so those individuals know.
Dad:
You are my hero, the person I owe virtually everything to and have looked up to since I was a kid. So proud of the way you raised us, saddling the burden of raising three kids as a single parent. May not have been rich materially growing up, but what we lacked, was made up in adoration, love, and principles.
Bro:
Love you to death. Never let anybody tell you, you aren’t capable/good enough. It’s not important so much how you climb the mountain, just so much that you reach the top.
Sis:
You are both such beautiful souls. Always believe in yourself. You’re loved and even in life’s darkest moments, you can find strength and courage.
Family:
Each and every one of you means the world to me. All of you have had an impact in different ways and I couldn’t be more grateful for the memories. Will forever cherish the privilege of calling you family.
Brothers and sisters:
You know who you are and how much you mean to me. You have all helped me through life’s greatest challenges and are some of the most important people in my life.
Friends:
If you’ve spent the time to read thus far then I guarantee you were likewise a very meaningful individual in my life that I cared about.
Much love and appreciation for enriching my life with your presence.
My crush lol:
You never knew. I wish I weren’t shy and sincerely wish l’d said something. You’ll probably never read this, but you’re ravishing, charismatic, intelligent, and brighten the world with your presence.

Staring into the Southern corridor of Glacier National Park on a brisk February evening. Watching a freight train making its way west, and snow blow over the distant peaks, partially obscuring the rising moon.

I remember staring at pictures like this, continuing to encounter them on social media, the web, magazines, etc. I would sit there and think, one day, but never actively pursued making it a reality. It wasn’t until a few years ago that I recognized the concept and found the inspiration.
Remembering the feeling of standing here at Dynjandi, feeling the reverberations as water thundered over the rocks next to me, and wondering whether it was worth it. Giving up my job, home, savings, and comfort, to follow my dreams. The people, places, and experiences, have and are a thousand times over, worth the sacrifice.
Don’t be a pawn in life. Make the most of what you have, and pursue each day with cause. Whatever they may be, fight to achieve your goals/dreams.

It’s been two weeks and I already can’t wait to hit the road again. May can’t come soon enough. To my dudes here, what a trip, don’t think I’ll ever forget this particular sunset staring at burning sky and watching the volcano intermittently pop off in the background.

Crazy how fast six months passed. From the start of one adventure to the beginning of the next, looking forward to what life’s got in store next! A flashback to sitting outside Jokulsarlon lagoon on some floating icebergs.
