08.19.2026… An incredibly dark, dark day for the cycling community.

With so much of my attention focused on the tragedy in Tennessee, I didn’t realize that we had also lost a young man, just 25 years old, riding his bicycle right here in our own backyard. 💔💔💔

Two tragedies. Three lives lost and several other critically injured. Far too much heartbreak in a single day.

It’s easy to take for granted how lucky we are to have the Turbo Velo Cycling Tuesday Nite Criterium. It’s been a staple of the DFW racing calendar for decades.

Thank you Ryan, Renee, our absolutely amazing official Lura, and the whole Turbo Velo Cycling crew who make this happen week after week. 🙏
