Just two slots left for Curacao Sept 27-Oct 4 2026!

We are also so excited to have such a great group shaping up for Fiji June 2027! Almost full! We are about to cap the divers at 2 more for that one, and then start a waitlist until we get enough to fill another boat. We want to keep the boats private to our group to make it a better experience!

See our website travel page for details on both trips:

Congrats to one of the bravest dudes I know (Connor Darger) for braving the cold water and completing his open water scuba diver certification in March at Sand Hollow! There are not many people I recommend to do this, but he was a natural and blazed through all skills like a pro! Then downed a monster at 40 ft just cuz! 😁

Ear equalization troubles? Often switching to a custom moldable regulator mouthpiece helps a lot. They cost only 20 bucks, you can form one in minutes at home, and it turns out reducing jaw fatigue isn’t the only benefit. What do jaw muscles have to do with equalizing, you ask?

Consider the Physiology of the Eustachian Tube. The Tensor Veli Palatini (TVP) muscle opens the Eustachian tube for pressure equalization and shares embryological origins and innervation via the Mandibular Nerve, with mastication (chewing) muscles. Due to this, tension in the jaw/chewing muscles can cause synchronous clamping of the TVP, restricting its ability to open the tube and resulting in difficulty with ear clearing!

Diving Impact: If a diver clenches their jaw, the TVP cannot function effectively to open the Eustachian tube.

Solution: Relaxing the jaw is essential for proper equalization. Use a moldable mouthpiece! In stock at Southern Utah Scuba.

Edge Moldable Mouthpiece Edge moldable mouthpiece just like a football mouthpiece is customizable to your personal teeth and jaw bite, resulting in unbeatable comfort while diving. Since this mouthpiece is fitted, it guarantees a solid grip in your mouth without stressing jaw muscles. The width of ....

Watch the previous reel (below this post) to see part of the reason why finding a frogfish on our recent group trip to Curaçao was so cool! Anyone diving for a long time knows how rare it is to find one. They have ability to change their patterns and color to their surroundings. Some fun facts:

Unlike octopus or cuttlefish that change in seconds, Frogfish take days to weeks to fully shift color.
• Chromatophores + skin texture: They adjust pigment cells and can alter skin texture—bumps, fronds, or smoothness—to look like:
• sponges
• algae
• coral rubble
• rocks or sand
• Wide palette: White, yellow, orange, red, brown, black… even mottled or speckled patterns.

Why they do it
• Ambush predation: They don’t chase prey—they become the scenery.
• Surprise attack: When a fish wanders close, frogfish strike in milliseconds (one of the fastest strikes in the ocean).

This little guy was yellow so that helped us find him!

Congrats on earning your open water scuba diver certification to Blake and Becca Harrison! It was so fun to watch as you progressed from the pool to the Crater to Curacao in such a short time! You two are so much fun to hang out, dive, and travel with!

Missing Curacao already! Just got back and what a great group we had! I’ll post more diving photos and videos from the trip soon.

Here is part 2 of the octopus video from curacao last week....

Check out this cool Octopus from a night dive in Curacao last Tuesday night! Some bright lights made him hide but then he came back out. Octopi are my favorite ocean critters to watch! They change colors to match their surroundings.
