The energy, the culture, the community, the purpose… ALL captured in Part 2 of the recap from the 3rd Annual Caribbean Qarnival 5K & Mental Health Fair hosted by the Y.O.U.T.H. Friendship Foundation, Inc. and the Psi Kappa Kappa Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.

From runners crossing the finish line 🏁 to families enjoying the Mental Health Fair 🧠, live music 🎶, community partners 🤝, and unforgettable moments throughout Big Spring Park — this event was bigger than a race. It was a movement focused on wellness, unity, culture, and breaking the stigma surrounding mental health in our communities.

THANK YOU to every participant, volunteer, sponsor, vendor, mental health professional, and supporter who helped make this year a tremendous success. Because of YOU, we continue to grow and impact lives.

❓ What does Y.O.U.T.H. Friendship Foundation, Inc. do with the proceeds from the race?

Great question! 👏🏾
The Caribbean Qarnival 5K exists to raise awareness for mental health and to help connect individuals and families with professional mental health resources. Proceeds from the race are donated to nonprofit organizations that align with this mission.

In addition, Y.O.U.T.H. Friendship Foundation, Inc. (YFF) promotes community uplift by providing scholarships for local students and giving back to local mental health–focused organizations, ensuring the impact of the race extends beyond race day and into the community year-round.

🧠 2025 Impact:
Proceeds from the 2025 Caribbean Qarnival Mental Health Awareness 5K & Mental Health Fair were donated to WellStone of Huntsville, North Alabama’s largest nonprofit behavioral healthcare provider. This contribution supported WellStone’s mission to deliver accessible mental health and substance use services to individuals of all ages across its 12 facilities throughout North Alabama.

🏘️ 2024 Impact:
In 2024, proceeds from the Caribbean Qarnival were donated to Village of Promise, a Family Advancement Center serving under-resourced communities in Northwest Huntsville. Village of Promise empowers families to break the cycle of poverty through education and multi-generational support, helping children succeed in school, work, and life.

✨ Looking Ahead to 2026:
Building on this momentum, a portion of proceeds from the 2026 Caribbean Qarnival 5K will again be directed toward local mental health and community-based organizations, further expanding access to care, education, and culturally competent support for underserved populations.
