Ambassador Christian is excited to announce Ryun Cook as our Girls Head Basketball Coach. A legendary coaching figure in the Charlotte area, Coach Cook has amassed 212 career wins in coaching stints at Sun Valley HS and Weddington HS and is the all time winningest coach at both schools. His teams are known for being fast paced, aggressive and fundamentally sound. Coach Cook has guided teams to 4 conference championships, playing in 2 Elite 8s and 1 Final Four. One of his top highlights was coaching in the very first prestigious 'NC High School Coaches vs Cancer' event. He has been named 'Coach of the Year' on 3 occasions. He also coached and developed 'McDonalds All American' Stephanie Watts who later was the 10th pick in the WNBA draft.

In a statement after his hiring, Coach Cook commented, "I’m so excited to be joining Ambassador Christian for this next chapter of my coaching career. I firmly believe in the values and vision of the school and the athletic department. I'm ready to roll up our sleeves and get to work building a premier program that can be competitive with anybody in the country. I'm excited to 'Chase the Lion'."

"We're so fortunate to be able to hire a coach that has achieved so much throughout his career" said Ambassador Christian Athletic Director, Jay Poag. "Our Lady Lions are going to love playing in Coach Cook's system and they will be so exciting to watch!"

Coach Cook and his wife, Andrea, are the proud parents of a true basketball family. Oldest son, AJ, was a premier player at Weddington HS leading his team to 2 state championships and played collegiately at Presbyterian College and Converse College. He currently is a top coach at trainer at the Carolina Courts organization. Their youngest son, Aidan, also played at Weddington and is currently a junior at UNCC where he serves as a basketball manager.

AMBASSADOR CHRISTIAN BOYS AND GIRLS SOCCER COACH ANNOUNCEMENT

Cyrus Salehi comes to Ambassador Christian with over 20 years of experience coaching at the club, high school, NCAA D1 and UPSL soccer levels. Coming from Fossil Ridge High School in Colorado, his girls soccer squad recently won the 5A state championship completing a tremendous 'back to back' state championship run over the past 2 years. Fossil Ridge finished the season ranked #7 in the country.

Coach Salehi's high school record in Colorado over the past 11 years was 216-39-15 and his teams have played in 8 semifinals, 4 championship games and winning 3 state titles. He is a 3x Colorado CHSAA and United 'Coach of the Year'. 

Cyrus has a history of building successful soccer programs built around GRIT, Culture and Selflessness. He is most excited about building godly soccer programs at ACS that compete at a high level while fostering a Christ-centered brotherhood and sisterhood. His vision is honoring Christ through the game of soccer, pursuing excellence on the field, winning with integrity, and creating lifelong memories and relationships both on and off the field.

He has been happily married for 28 years to his wife, Becky, and they are the proud parents of three amazing kids… Allison, Ashley and Joshua.

'We're thrilled to introduce Coach Salehi and his family to the Ambassador Christian community", announced ACS Athletic Director, Jay Poag. "He's obviously won big at every level, but it's 'how' he builds God-centered programs that is so impressive. It's going to be exciting to see where he takes our boys and girls soccer programs."

Congratulations to the Ambassador Christian School Softball Team for achieving an outstanding 3.3 Team GPA during the 2025-2026 school year! Your hard work, discipline, and commitment to honoring Christ in everything you do continues to make our school proud.

We also want to celebrate 8 of our softball players for being recognized as NFCA All-America Scholar-Athletes, an incredible accomplishment that reflects dedication both academically and athletically.

We are so proud of this team for representing Ambassador Christian School with excellence, character, and faith. The future is bright!
