At the 4A state wrestling tournament, we had five boys compete at the highest level. Out of those five, three advanced to the second day, showing the hard work and dedication they’ve put in all season.
Isaiah Peachey (113 lbs) and Von Grubbs (175 lbs) both earned 6th place finishes.
We’re proud of all five wrestlers for representing our program with toughness and effort. A special congratulations to our seniors for finishing their careers as state placers—an accomplishment they’ll carry with them for years to come.

The Hugoton Eagles have made it to Salina for the KSHSAA State Wrestling Tournament!

Last weekend the Eagles competed at Regionals in Winfield, KS and finished 5th overall as a team. Also congratulations to Von Grubbs as he accomplished his 100th Career Win.
Leading the way for Hugoton were our five state qualifiers:
113 pounds, Isaiah Peachey placed 2nd.
138 pounds, Eli Camacho placed 4th.
144 pounds, Cooper Nix placed 3rd.
175 pounds, Von Grubbs placed 2nd.
215 pounds, Uvaldo “Jr.” Martinez placed 2nd.

Von Grubbs hit a major milestone this weekend at the 4A Winfield Regional, earning his 100th career victory. The Hugoton senior finished as the 175-pound regional runner-up and will continue his final high school season at the 4A State Tournament in Salina. One more chapter to write on the biggest stage.

100 Career Wins! Congratulations to Von Grubbs on earning his 100th career victory at the 4A Winfield Regional. Grubbs also finished as the 175-pound regional runner-up. He will compete again next week in Salina.
