The Start of Renewed PT
In the fall of 2023, I started feeling God calling me to something different in physical therapy, but I wasn’t sure what it was. I knew I routinely felt limited in my ability to provide optimal care when I was treating two patients at a time and by the sheer number of patients I was seeing each day.
One night during my devotions, I felt God lead me specifically to 2 Corinthians 4:16-17. I sensed a deep truth that He was calling me to make my next job decision with an eternal focus at the very basis of it. That same night, I also felt one of my first nudges to open my own practice. The next question that came to me was what it would be called — and I felt God highlight the word “Renewed” to me from the verse.
In the next few months, I started searching for a location, but with multiple options falling through and nothing seeming to fit, I decided to put it on hold. I told my husband Tony that I felt like I needed to give opening the business a backseat for now, while still deeply believing God had something for me in the future.
Fast forward to the next spring: I was biking around Jamestown and discovered a new gym I hadn’t seen before. I met the owner, Carol, and the next day messaged her asking if she happened to have any space for a PT clinic. She said potentially — and ended up offering me her office space.
That same week at my current job, it was announced that we were shifting to treating three patients at a time instead of two. I felt God bringing things together, while also feeling the deep need to rest in Christ as the idea of opening a clinic just three years out from PT school brought many fears and much intimidation.
I knew there would be so much I didn’t know, but from that time forward the theme became “God’s timing, God’s plan.” I was forced to rely on God and not turn to striving from human ambition. I had to hold each aspect of the business loosely as I held it open to God’s plan. Since then, I have routinely felt this theme — human striving routinely leaves me tired and broken. Then again, I am reminded to trust God with whatever His plan is, and in surrender, God brings about next steps I never could have imagined. Each step is hard and takes work, but He doesn’t let me do it on my own ambition — so similar to the Israelites wandering in the desert. I have found I routinely need reminders to trust God — His plan, His timing.
This is why Renewed exists — to give every patient the time, attention, and care they deserve in true one-on-one 60-minute sessions.
Thank you for being part of this journey.
