Cage Heat 15 are 2-1 through pool play in the ENYTB Last Man Standing so far this weekend, earning the team the 1 seed from the pool.
Bracket play starts tomorrow when the team takes on Schoharie Thunder at 12:15 at Lansingburgh HS.
Game 1
Brody Burke Leads Cage Heat 15 Past ENY Blackhawks 15
Brody Burke was dominant on the mound, as the right-handed pitcher rang up 15 strikeouts in the Heats 5-3 victory over ENY Blackhawks 15U+ on Thursday at Ichabod Crane High School. Burke allowed four hits and three runs over seven innings while walking three.
Cage Heat opened the scoring in the third after Amarion Perry doubled, scoring two runs.
ENY Blackhawks 15U+ tied the game in the top of the fourth thanks to a ground out by Rocco Pelizza, and a single by Elijah Craig.
Cage Heat 15U took the lead in the bottom of the fourth. Logan Burleigh hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run, to give Cage Heat 15U the upper hand, 3-2.
In the bottom of the sixth, Cage Heat 15U broke up the tie when Tanner Kelly singled, scoring one run. Then a line out by Burke followed to extend the lead to 5-3.
Perry went 1-for-2 at the plate and led the team with two runs batted in. Burke led Cage Heat 15U with two hits in three at bats.
Game 2
Cage Heat 15 Fall After Big Comeback By Ne Hurricanes 15U
Cage Heat lost to NE Hurricanes 15U 8-6 on Saturday at RPI Robinson Field even though they once led by five runs.
Cage Heat 15U got on the board in the top of the first inning after Jayden Brantley doubled down the right field line, Brody Burke hit a sacrifice fly, Jake Petteys balked, and Orozco singled to center field, each scoring one run.
Ne Hurricanes 15U tied the game in the bottom of the fourth thanks to an error, a walk by Braeden Stockwell, a walk by Thaddeus Karig, and a wild pitch.
Tanner Kelly took the loss for Cage Heat 15U. The right-handed pitcher went two-thirds of an inning, surrendering five runs (two earned) on one hit, striking out two and walking five.
Braeden Barnes started the game for Cage Heat 15U. The pitcher gave up two hits and zero runs over three innings, striking out six and walking three.
Brantley, Burke, Ethan Brennan, and Orozco each drove in one run for Cage Heat 15U.
Game 3
Walk Off win for Cage Heat in bottom of 7th! Cage Heat 15 Secure Win Against Saratoga Stampede Humiston 16 when Braeden Barnes scores from third on a passed ball.
Cage Heat 15 bested Saratoga Stampede Humiston 16U 5-4 on Saturday at RPI Robinson Field.
Cage Heat 15 jumped out to the lead in the bottom of the second inning after Zen Mallory induced Louis Decrosta to hit into a fielder's choice, but one run scored, and Amarion Perry doubled, scoring two runs.
Saratoga Stampede Humiston 16U jumped into the lead in the top of the fifth when Ayden Daniels lined out, scoring one run, and Miller Scott tripled, scoring three runs.
Tanner Kelly singled to left field, which helped Cage Heat 15 tie the game at four in the bottom of the fifth.
Jayden Brantley earned the win for Cage Heat 15. The hurler allowed zero hits and zero runs over two innings, striking out one and walking none. Logan Burleigh led things off on the bump for the Heat. The hurler surrendered three hits and four runs (zero earned) over five innings, striking out four and walking five.
Brantley, Perry, Ethan Brennan, Burleigh, and Kelly each collected one hit for Heat 15. Perry led the team with two runs batted in. The leadoff hitter went 1-for-2 on the day. Braeden Barnes paced Cage Heat with two walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, accumulating eight walks for the game.
