The Columbia-Greene Community College Softball Team and its coaching staff are honored to announce the commitment of sophomore captain Kaitlyn Stagno! Kaitlyn officially committed on May 22nd to play Softball at NCAA Division III SUNY Delhi in Delhi, New York.

Kaitlyn came to Columbia-Greene from Germantown High School in Germantown, New York. Originally recruited and signed to play Women's Soccer for the Twins, Kaitlyn came on board this year to help rebuild the softball program.

Kaitlyn was the primary catcher for the Twins but also saw time at second base and in the outfield when returning from a concussion mid-season. Appearing in 19 of the teams 24 games, missing 5 due to the previously mentioned concussion, Kaitlyn was a leader on the field and in the dugout! Kaitlyn collected 9 hits, 7 runs, 2 doubles, 3 RBI's, 4 walks, 1 hit by pitch, and 1 stolen base this season. Ending the season batting .191, Kaitlyn also had an on-base percentage of .269 and a slugging percentage of .234. Defensively, Kaitlyn collected 46 putouts, 12 assists, and 5 runners caught stealing. Academically, Kaitlyn is a good student who consistently made the 3.0+ GPA club.

We are very excited to see Kaitlyn compete at the next level while pursuing her Bachelor's degree in Nursing at SUNY Delhi! We wish her the best of luck in this next chapter of her life!

The Columbia-Greene Softball Program is happy to announce that 2 of our athletes have been named to the NJCAA All-Academic teams and 6 of our athletes have been named to the NJCAA Region 3 Academic All-Region Team!

The NJCAA All-Academic Teams recognize student-athletes across the country for their dedication in the classroom. Student-athletes are eligible to earn this academic honor by achieving an overall GPA of 3.60 or higher for the 2022-23 academic year. The criteria for the three All-Academic teams are listed below:

NJCAA All-Academic First Team: 4.00 GPA
NJCAA All-Academic Second Team: 3.80-3.99 GPA
NJCAA All-Academic Third Team: 3.60-3.79 GPA
The Academic All-Region Team recognizes student-athletes throughout our region (Region 3) for their dedication in the classroom. Student-athletes are eligible to earn this academic honor by completing at least 24 credits with an overall GPA of 3.50 or higher for the 2022-23 academic year.

We would like to congratulate the following athletes on their academic achievements! We look forward to their continued success on and off the field!

Columbia-Greene Softball would like to congratulate 5 athletes on earning All Mountain Valley Conference Honors! These players earned these honors based off their performances on the field this spring!

The All-Mountain Valley Conference Teams are comprised of thirteen players from various teams, in the Mountain Valley Conference, who stood out among their peers at their given position. Softball has one player selected per position on the field, with three pitchers, a DP and a utility also selected.

Freshman second basemen Kersten Keeler was named the 2023 All-Mountain Valley Conference First Team Second Basemen!

Freshman outfielder Madilin Green was named to the 2023 All-Mountain Valley Conference Second Team as an outfielder!

Freshman pitcher Jordan Wyant was named to the 2023 All-Mountain Valley Conference Second Team as an pitcher!

Freshman shortstop Alexandra Espel was named the 2023 All-Mountain Valley Conference Second Team Co-Shortstop!

Sophomore third basemen Haley Pulver was named the 2023 All-Mountain Valley Conference Second Team Co-Third Basemen!

Columbia-Greene would again like to congratulate these five Softball players on this outstanding accomplishment! We wish the sophomore athletes good luck next year and we look forward to seeing the freshman's continued success next year on and off the field!

While acknowledging athletic honors, we would also like to congratulate 4 players who received awards through the CGCC Athletic Department this year!
