A significant proportion of Americans, nearly half, have vitamin D deficiency. It is unreasonable to believe that synthetic chemicals, particularly those derived from hazardous materials, can replicate the benefits of sunlight. The idea that one hour of sunlight per day is adequate is also implausible. This perspective suggests that our ancestors managed to hunt, fish, gather, farm, and socialize within an hour and then remained indoors for the rest of the day, which is an unrealistic portrayal of human history. In reality, humans have historically spent most of their time outdoors and were healthier in every measurable way. They were also largely free from modern diseases. For those struggling with vitamin D deficiency, exposing bare skin to sunlight until tanning occurs can be beneficial. It is essential to delay showering after sun exposure, as vitamin D can continue to be absorbed by the skin for almost a day. Moreover, mushrooms exposed to sunlight can become a rich source of vitamin D, acting as a natural supplement. Without adequate vitamin D, the body's ability to absorb other vitamins is impaired, potentially leading to conditions such as energy deficiency, fat metabolism issues, depression, sleep disorders, and hormonal imbalances. Seeking moderate sunlight exposure can help regulate bodily functions and enhance the absorption of essential nutrients.
