Team It's About Time competed in the inaugural Lost River 50. Great event, very well organized, put it on your calendar for 2022! We placed 2nd overall and 2nd in our class (behind the tandem team of Tommy Yonley and Tim Rask) - 52.3 miles in 9:59:33.

Great course, 9 different waterways/ bodies of water, and great scenery. Congrats to all the finishers...we are definitely looking forward to this event for next year!

As the 2021 Texas Water Safari (260 mile non-stop canoe race from San Marcos, TX to Seadrift, TX) approaches, this year team "It's About Time" will be racing for a great cause - Stand Up To Cancer!

Like so many others, this cause is very near and dear to our family.
This year we are racing for my mother, Nina Gibson, who is currently going through her second battle of cancer since January of 2020 and kicking it's butt!

Other family members who have fought their own battles and will also be in our thoughts as we race are: Gary Gibson, Julia Gibson, Cynthia Thomas, Jennifer Gibson

Saturday May 1st we raced in the 34 mile Texas River Marathon - aka "The Prelim". This is the race that also determines the starting position for the Texas Water Safari. The previous weekend we scouted the course as the water was very low - but had a successful run. The day before the race Texas received enough rain to raise the water level and current substantially. The start of this race is always crazy, and with 129 boats, this year would be no different. This year brought two new challenges, 1) our pump stopped working between the time we got the boat ready and when the race started, and 2) we decided to take a swim not too long after the race started. Fellow paddler Wade Binion just happened to be behind us with a video camera mounted on their boat when the action happened...needless to say, we ended up almost dead last when we got moving again - but that's racing. At the end of the day, Team It's About Time finished a very successful 15th out of 129 boats in a time of 4:14:54.

Day 3 - June 10, 2019. They left Swinging Bridge checkpoint on track to make it to Saltwater Barrier around 4am. At one point we saw that they had stopped somewhere in the cuts and looked like they were trying to find their way. We knew we were in for lo get wait then weplanned, but glad it wasn't as long as it could've been, they made it just before 8am. So they lost some time to meet their goal bug still had a great race and finished in 51:24, Gary's new PR! Matt had a blast and was talking about his next TWS even before they finished this race. We had a great year and looking forward to the next races and prep for TWS 2020.

Day 2 is in the books and they are on the way to the last checkpoint, saltwater barrier. They got through the night feeling weary. But daylight, fluids and food got them down the river. Today has been tough on everyone with the it being the hottest day of the year, temps with heat index of 106! They have held a steady pace all things considered. We are hoping it stays that way and we will see them early in the morning at the finish.
