To my pregnant girlies or those planning to get pregnant, here's some key components to keep in mind as you go through your journey of creating your tiny human. 😊

* Keep up with your physical activity (A 30-minute brisk walk daily is beneficial)
* Keep your diet nutrient-dense and go for variety (think colors of the rainbow when eating vegetables and fruits)
* Maintain an appropriate amount of weight gain
* Find a good prenatal vitamin to help supplement your diet, to help keep up with the many demands your body & baby need

Often you hear people tell you that it's ok to eat more because you are "eating for two." When honestly, you really only need approximately an extra 300-500 calories per day during the 2nd and 3rd trimester. Overindulging and excessive weight gain during pregnancy can lead to prolonged labor, delivery complications, obesity in childhood etc.

But be advised, dieting and weight loss is not recommended during pregnancy. Simply being aware of your weight, eating healthfully and keeping up with you dr appointments is sufficient enough to know you are on the right track.

When creating your grocery list each week, try to remember some of these key things:

* Add plenty of fruits/veggies
* Whole grain or wheat breads (complex carbs, good fiber source)
* Beneficial snacks like almonds, cashews, yogurt with fruit
* Try to go for fresh foods over processed foods as much as you can
* Stay away from sodas and fruit juices

Learn how to read your nutritional facts/ingredients label when buying foods. Stay away from things high in trans fats, high sugar/added sugar items, high sodium. Drinks and/or foods that have artificial flavors, high fructose corn syrup, etc. Look for items with lots of vitamins and minerals.

It takes some getting used to reading the labels and learning what's good vs. what's bad but it's helpful to know what you're eating and drinking as well. 🍎🥒🍅🥗🥚🍠

What 5 weeks of putting in work can do ✨

Key things to remember:

✅Stick to your workout plan
✅Clean up your eating habits
✅Remember to do cardio
✅Stay committed to the process

Also a reminder, don’t stare at the scale!
My weight as a whole didn’t change a lot (barely 2 lbs lost) but as I was gaining muscle I was also losing inches in different places as well. Slow progress is better than no progress, so keep going!!
