16 year old Rowdy Chouinard started 7th in the factory stock feature Saturday night at Cotton Bowl Speedway and drove up to win it! Great job!

Polhemus ready to make Tundra Super Late Model debut

TOMBALL, TX – Seventeen-year-old Barrett Polhemus has secured a ride with Casey Johnson and Apex Motorsports for the 2022 TUNDRA Super Late Models Series. With support from John Alverson and Alverson Motorsports, the Texas teenager will make his Tundra Series debut at Wisconsin International Raceway in Kaukauna, Wisconsin on May 14th.

“I’ve been fortunate to have some great opportunities to learn and grow as a driver” notes Polhemus. “Transitioning into full-bodied stock cars and then into a Super Late Model this year has been a game changer for me. Seat time is key and I’m excited to learn from a driver like Casey and campaign for the rookie title this season”.

“Over the past 6 years I have gotten the opportunity to race for a few teams” states Casey Johnson, Two-time ARCA Midwest Tour Champion. “What’s nice about racing for car owners is it has freed up my time a bit to be able to create this side business of working with other drivers, but I never really had interest in renting out my own cars let alone fielding a car with a young driver in it.”

“The TUNDRA schedule is not huge, and the races are spaced out to about once a month, which works out well as our drivers are traveling from down South. We also wanted to make sure these young drivers were getting a real taste of Wisconsin short track racing; the 5-6 tracks TUNDRA visits are tricky, and the field is full of competition. It’s a great place for a younger driver to come get gain a ton of experience -- multiple tracks with different styles of racing and racing against some of the best drivers in the Midwest.”

“I couldn’t think of a better mentor for these young kids” [John] Alverson notes. “Casey is one of the best in the business and I was stoked when we were able to have this driver development idea come full circle”. “There’s so much young talent down here in the south and it’s great to be able to help these drivers make connections and give them an opportunity to gain on track experience. Casey is a great mentor”.

“Taking on a mentor role is fairly easy when John [Alverson] is sending me kids who are really passionate about racing and have a lot of talent” says Casey. “Really, they just need some coaching & a good car to prove themselves in and I am capable of giving them both”. “We had a lot of fun working with Grant Thompson last season and really enjoyed the experience – we’re excited that John has connected us with another driver for this season and we are excited to work with Barrett”

Barrett Polhemus made his Super Late Model debut earlier this year at Tucsan Speedway in the Chilly W***y 150. Additionally, he competes in the LunkerDaddy Pro Late Model Series full-time at Madera Speedway in California.
