There are so many reasons why you might consider hiring a doula. Here are just 4 of my favorites.
1. Doulas are an asset to your provider team and partner! Doulas work with and add to your support team. They help with many of the things providers don’t have time to focus on, including showing and recommending birth positions, helping you cope through each contraction, reminding you to eat, drink and p*e, applying pressure or massage, and more! The can also help coach your partner or give them the opportunity to take a break of their own when needed.
2. Doulas provide ongoing support and comfort. They often are there before anyone else to support you at home. Their familiarity with you and your family makes their reassurance and comfort some of the most valuable encouragement you’ll receive in labor. Their main role is to make sure you feel strong, confident, and supported!
3. Doulas advocate and remind you of your birth wishes. Since they work with you prenatally, they will be in a great position to make sure your wishes are known by everyone. They will help you navigate the birth space, make sure your concerns are heard, and provide information to help you make informed decisions. They are there just for you and have your back no matter what!
4. The statistics show so many benefits to having a doula! From shorter and more positive experiences, to less risk for interventions and pain medication, research shows that simply having a doula by your side serves as a protective factor for an amazing birth.
