Steel Valley Shock Come Up Short Against Avalanche

Steel Valley Shock fell to Avalanche 8-4 on Sunday.

Avalanche opened the scoring in the first after Sophia drew a walk, scoring one run.

In the bottom of the first inning, Steel Valley Shock went back into the lead after Avalanche dropped a third strike, Avalanche dropped a third strike, and Lily C walked, each scoring one run.

Avalanche tied the game in the top of the second thanks to a double by Aubrey, and a dropped third strike.

Steel Valley Shock took the lead in the bottom of the second. Savanna S was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, to give Steel Valley Shock the lead, 4-3.

Avalanche captured the lead, 7-4, in the top of the third after Ryann singled to the left side of the infield, Alexa singled to the left side of the infield, Aubrey tripled to center field, and Lilly singled to the right side of the infield, each scoring one run.

Kenzie O started the game for Steel Valley Shock. The hurler surrendered eight hits and eight runs (five earned) over three innings, striking out five and walking eight. Ryann led things off in the circle for Avalanche. The pitcher gave up four hits and four runs over three innings, striking out four and walking five.

Kate M led the team with one run batted in. Pearl C, Kaylee K, Addison M, and Lillian P each collected one hit for Steel Valley Shock. Gianna G and Lillian each stole multiple bases for Steel Valley Shock. Steel Valley Shock had a strong eye at the plate, tallying five walks for the game. Steel Valley Shock ran wild on the base paths, accumulating 10 stolen bases for the game.

Avalanche collected eight hits in the game. Alexa and Aubrey were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected two hits for Avalanche while hitting back-to-back. Alexa and Aubrey were tough to handle back-to-back in the lineup, as each drove in two runs for Avalanche. Amelia led Avalanche with three walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, tallying eight walks for the game.

Steel Valley Shock Secure Win Against Avalanche

Steel Valley Shock were victorious against Avalanche 8-5 on Sunday.

Avalanche added one run in the second after Farren singled to right field.

Steel Valley Shock captured the lead, 4-2, in the bottom of the second when Pearl C grounded out, scoring two runs, Gianna G singled, scoring one run, and Emilee D drew a walk, scoring one run.

Avalanche captured the lead, 5-4, in the top of the third when Corrine singled, scoring one run, and Claire lined out, scoring two runs.

Steel Valley Shock jumped back into the lead in the bottom of the third inning after Kenzie O singled to left field, Addison M was struck by a pitch, Pearl singled to right field, and Steel Valley Shock scored on a passed ball, each scoring one run.

Kate M earned the win for Steel Valley Shock. The starter allowed four hits and four runs (three earned) over three and two-thirds innings, striking out eight and walking four. Claire led things off in the circle for Avalanche. The starting pitcher surrendered three hits and four runs over one and two-thirds innings, striking out one and walking two.

Pearl, the number seven hitter for Steel Valley Shock, led the way with two runs batted in. The infielder went 1-for-2 on the day. Kenzie went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead Steel Valley Shock in hits. Steel Valley Shock had patience at the plate, amassing five walks for the game.

Corrine and Farren each collected two hits for Avalanche. Corrine and Farren each drove in one run for Avalanche. Avalanche were sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Jaiden made the most plays with two.

Steel Valley Shock will travel to Avalanche for their next game on Sunday.
