🥎 We are excited to introduce Coach Savannah Thorne! 🥎

Savannah’s softball journey began at just 6 years old in Little League before transitioning to travel softball at age 7. She spent the majority of her travel career with the Virginia Chaos before finishing her final two seasons with the Sarasota Heat, where she not only developed as a player but also built lifelong friendships and memories.

A four-year varsity player at Hanover High School, Savannah excelled as both a second baseman and pitcher. Her outstanding senior season earned her First Team All-State Offensive honors as well as All-Metro recognition in 2019.

After high school, Savannah continued her playing career at Roanoke College for two years before transferring to Shenandoah University, where she played three additional seasons, including a fifth-year COVID season.

Today, Savannah serves as an Assistant Softball Coach at St. Catherine’s School, where she has spent the past two seasons and recently helped guide the program to a VISAA State Championship.

We are excited to have Coach Savannah bring her playing experience, passion for the game, and commitment to player development to the Virginia Vols Fast Pitch Family!

🥎 Come out and join us for the Virginia Vols Fast Pitch Softball Camp! 🥎

This is a great opportunity for players to meet our coaching staff, learn more about the Virginia Vols Fast Pitch program, and get quality instruction in a fun, positive environment.

Our staff is excited to work with athletes of all skill levels as we focus on fundamentals, player development, confidence, and a love for the game. Whether you're looking to sharpen your skills, learn something new, or simply get extra reps, this camp is for you!

Today we’re excited to introduce Shea Walton, our Director of Player Development. 🥎🔸

Shea started playing softball at 7 years old and joined the Jensen Beach Wildcats travel organization at age 8. She remained with the same organization through high school, building friendships that have lasted nearly two decades and remain strong today.

During her time with the Wildcats, Shea helped lead her team to back-to-back AAU National Championships in Osceola, Florida. One of those championship runs came after falling into the loser’s bracket and battling back to win eight consecutive games to capture the title.

Shea went on to play varsity softball at Jensen Beach High School before continuing her career at Daytona State College. Throughout her playing days, she took pride in locking down the hot corner at third base and hitting bombs at the plate.

Today, Shea’s passion for the game comes from giving young athletes the same opportunities, friendships, life lessons, and memories that softball gave her. She is committed to helping build a program where player development, strong relationships, and a genuine love for the game come first.

We’re excited to have Shea helping lead the next generation of athletes and continue building the Virginia Vols softball program.

Happy Birthday to our Director of Softball Operations, Amy Hancock! 🥎🎉

Today, we’re excited to introduce one of the people helping bring the Virginia Vols Fast Pitch vision to life.

Amy’s softball journey began at Mechanicsville Little League and continued through travel ball, a state championship at Lee-Davis High School, and a standout collegiate career at Wingate University, where she helped lead her team to the Division II Women’s College World Series.

While Amy does a tremendous amount behind the scenes, she’s also passionate about helping athletes grow both on and off the field. Her experience as a player, coach, wife, and mom gives her a unique perspective on building a positive environment for players and families.

Amy is helping us build more than just a softball organization — she’s helping create a culture where girls can develop confidence, leadership, character, and a lifelong love for the game.

Please join us in wishing Amy a very Happy Birthday and thanking her for being such an important part of the Virginia Vols family! 🩵🧡
